The fairy tale castle is absolutely beautiful and a must see if anywhere near Munich. The tour is worth the 9 euros. You must go on the bridge above the castle for the best views. more

Neuschwanstein Castle is a magestic looking building which was apparently the model for the Disney World castle. It was clearly built for show (and not for defense) and features interesting towers, colors and some neat displays of wealth inside. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside the castle, so snap as many photos as you can while walking around it. Overall,... more

As we drove into the Fussen area the Castles appear on the great mountain side. It seems almost unreal as they looked pirched on the edge of the mountian. My family really enjoyed seeing the history of the castles. The best part for us was coming over to the castles the night before we took the tour when the castles... more

My husband and I visited Neuschwanstein Castle on our honeymoon in spring 2007. The castle is like a fairytale.. high upon a hill, looking over rolling green mountains. It really is an amazing sight and experience. I highly recommend reading about this castles short history before you visit. Its inhabitant was in interesting man who had many quirks, but an... more

Went to Neuschwanstein Castle in March 2008. The place was as beautiful as shown on the postcards and Internet. I drove there from Munich taking around 1 hr and 40 minutes. There was not much traffic jam as I drove on the Autobahn most of the way. I decided to drive there because I read on websites that taking a... more

We just returned from visiting Neuschwanstein Easter break. We waited until late in the week to go, as the weather was too snowy early on. Plan your trip for a day that you will be able to see the castle from afar! It is definitely worth it. We took the train from Munich using the Bavaria Ticket, a great deal.... more

In reading the other reviews already posted about visiting the castle, I completely agree that it is a wonderful day trip and an incredible castle not to be missed. I did want to add to the reviews by posting some practical information that isn't really mentioned here or on the castle website. We visited the castle as a day trip... more

I visited the Castle in March of '05. Snow covered the ground and we got caught in a snowstorm coming back into Munich. It was beautiful!!! I had dreamed of visiting for such a long time and it left we wanting more! The hike up to the castle was wonderful. And the views of the Alps from the top were... more

We ordered our tickets online ahead of time. We scheduled an early afternoon tour. We took the train from Munich, and then the bus from Fuessen. The entire place was covered in snow...it was unbelievably beautiful. We had some trouble in the bathroom. My worst nightmare came true! You had to pay to use the bathroom...30 euro cents...3 dimes. Unfortunately,... more

You can see castle Neuschwanstein and Castle Hohenschwangau in 1 day. Start early and get a preset time for your tour.. I actually thought Hohenschwangau was more interesting as it is much older and has more history, but Neuschwanstein is a shock to the senses in the level of detail. more
