A friend and I boarded this "luxury" train on April 1, 2008. That the POW was not at all luxurious by western standards was immediately apparent to us. I just returned from India today and a week spent on the Palace on Wheels. This train had a date of 1995 built on it. Most of the carriages, like the dining, lounge cars are wood and look nice, however the rooms are below average. The bathrooms are dated and very little storage space. I think POW is the best way to see Rajasthan in a limited period of time, covering vast areas without spending too much time (and risking your life) on the roads.
