The Riverwalk has a number of shopping places and eateries. Most are over priced, but heck that's life. You can drink booze on the Riverwalk (not the streets of SA) if you want to save some cash go to the CVS on the Riverwalk and buy 24oz Mexican beers for $2!! Then just walk about the river. Until you find... more

We stayed at the Hyatt and walked right out to the river walk. The river walk is very crowded on Friday and Saturday so try to go during the work week. Anything you want or need is here. Great places to eat. Ride the river boats in the day to see where everything is and ride them at night to... more

Just a lovely Spanish flavor all around this area of downtown San Antonio River Walk, historical and modern mixed together well, lovely pedestrian family friendly river walk, area kept nicely clean, relaxing & educational river boat tour ride, plenty of food choices along entire river walk area, people even walk around with their margaritas as they take in a stroll...lots... more

The River Walk was better than I expected - not just a walk along a river, but a crampt, Venice-like canal with shopes and restaurants. Its goes on for about a mile, so its not too short, but it still feels like a bit like a tourist trap. Eateries basically consumed the entire walk - I think they could use... more

I had heard about the River Walk but it was more beautiful than I expected. It was especially nice at night when it was all lite up. The best time to go is on a week day just before sundown. Walk around while its still light for a bit, then ride a boat down the River and enjoy the lights.... more

We loved the River Walk! Very touristy, just what we wanted on vacation. We were there during Fiesta and never found it particularly over crowded. You can take a tour in the river taxis, which we never did, or just ride around, which we found very enjoyable. The same drivers do the taxis as give the tours so we found... more

My Wife and I just got back from a weeklong visit to San Antonio, and we had a great time. We stayed a few blocks from the River Walk and found it best visited before lunch. The afternoon crowds can be overwhelming at several points along the river. A boat ride is a must; the guides tell you all about... more

The River Walk in San Antonio is highly over rated. I was there March 20th to 21st, 2008 and also a couple of years ago. It's just the same. I have always worried about kids falling into the river since they don't have guard rails along the walk ways. I always kept my 9 year old away from the river's... more

Our family of four went to the Riverwalk on a Sunday morning. Because it was early, the walk wasn't at all crowded, so we didn't experience the feeling that the kids were going to fall in that I've seen a lot of people posting about. The kids (6 & 2) loved looking at the river, the ducks, the boats, etc.... more
