Destination: San Francisco with 3 little ones !!! How did I ever survive it ???

Ask this member a question. momma3boys Road trip from Orange County to San Francisco. The weather will definitely vary as you drive the interstate 5 from LA to San Francisco! At the 1st rest stop past LA it was 74 degrees with a cool wind. Nice ! The 3rd rest stop along I-5 it was 95 degrees!! Hot and humid !!! Then once we had reached San Francisco in the evening it was 62 degrees and windy! It was freezing cold!!

Recommended and not recommended hotels for families with kids. Places to take the kids.
1. Sheraton Gateway San Francisco Airport Hotel
Ave price: $169
Not recommended for famiilies with young children. Small rooms, small pool, no micro, no fridge, no disney channel and furniture is worn. Great bed though!
I loved walking around Chinatown! In the center is a small park with a playground where my kids were able to burn off some energy! I was there on Friday, August 10, 2007 and wanted to eat Dim Sum but most of the restaurants did not open until 11AM ! People there sure to do eat breakfast late so if you are an early riser you will find most restaurants closed in this area.
Fun place to take the kids! You can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the sea lions from this pier. Was there on 8-10-07 and was chilly & a bit windy in the daytime so the night was probably freezing! Be sure to wear layered clothing! It was in the low 60's with winds !
4. Woodfin Suites Hotel-San Francisco Bay Bridge
Ave price: $187
Definitely recommended #1 hotel for families! I always stay at a Woodfin whenever possible! Never a disappointment! I was there on 8-10-07 and the hotel is currently being protested so do not stay at this hotel this month ! The picketters will wake you up with their loudspeakers and yelling at 8am ! Has great breakfast buffet for $9 per person. Made to order omellets. MMMM........good ! They also have a great food court across the street as well !
My kids loved going down this street but I actually got car sick ! Driving up the high hill and down it was really scary for me! I have never driven up so high ! It would be convenient to stop here first before going to the Golden Gate bridge since it's on the way.
It was freezing and windy, windy, windy!!!! Dress warmly ! They do not charge you anything to drive over the bridge only on the way back and it's $5 per car.
Ave price: $148
If doing a roadtrip along the central coast I highly recommend this hotel for families! Spacious clean rooms with complimentary hot breakfast buffet. Great value ! Manager could have been friendlier though.
8. nojoqui waterfalls solvang
Nice short uphill hike. Was there on 8-12-07 and there was very little water just trickling down into a small pool. Still nice to see and to take photos. It's a nice scenic 20 minutes drive from solvang to the waterfall.
This is the biggest Chuck E Cheese I have seen! 2 floors ! Wow! But it can get quite noisy with all the arcade games, kids screaming and music playing. It is on Tully. You can see it from the I-5 freeway on the way to San Francisco.
