This is my favourite hotel and have stayed here many times. I just love the luxury and the view from my riverview room.I have tried many other hotels in Shanghai but to me you cannot go past the Shangri-La. If you are staying here please try the yum cha in the Shang Palace Restaurant on level 2...it is fabulous...and if you dont stay here ..try the restaurant anyway. The breakfast in this hotel is wonderful. |

| This area is famous in Shanghai, it represents historical significance and is the womb of China. The Bund means "embankment of muddy waterfront" and it certainly is that. The Bund is situated on the Huangpu River and has has an assortment on 1930's neoclassical buildings. Most of China's business, banks and fiancial institutions are situated here. Take a walk around this area and you will be overhelmed by the sensations, smell, historical value, and the overall oriental experience. |

| Old Shanghai is fasinating, it is in these back alleys that Shanghai gained notoriety as gansters and opuim dens flooded the streets.Today, the streets are alive with stalls, markets and buildings of the late Qing Dynasty and early republican days.It is here where you find many 100 year old stores. Take your time to wander around as there are some absolutely wonderful stores. Don't forget to bargain...the chinese love the game of it and really enjoy having fun with you.The trick is the start the game rolling with the lowest price possible, they will laugh, but also admire you for being street smart. |

| Buddist ceremonies are conducted here all the time, so you may be able to see one if your lucky. The temple was constructed in 1882 when Monk Huigen brought two jade Buddhas from Bruma and needed to enshrine them. |

This hotel is famous and sits on the edge of the Bund in Nanjing Road.It has been a landmark for nearly a century, and is truely a fusion of ancient and modern, Eastern and Western. This is a great place to have coffee and enjoy the Jazz music, in the Jazz Bar, it really is a Must Do on your list. I have stayed here and was disappointed in the hotel, but if you want to relax your feet after a days shopping then this is the place to be. |

| This tower the highest building in Asia and the third in the world. If you have time take the lift up and experience the views. |

|
| I just love this muddy river, its full of action and activity from barges, ferries, cargo ships, and junk boats all parading their goods on the river. |

Shopping: Shanghai has specific streets for shopping, and there is no better place to shop in the world than Shanghai. Take a walk down Duolun Street and it will take you back to the 20-30's. You will find old fashioned bookshops, galleries and traditional tea-houses.
Shanghai Old Street - Is gorgeous with it's Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings. You will find stores selling everything from Pearls, watches, antiques and bric-a-brac.
Dongtai Street - houses over 400 stalls and 40 stalls dealing in old handicrafts and antiques including procelain, jade, copper and wood ware.
Nanjing Street - has just about everything from shoes, clothes, electrical items. The shoes expeacially the mens are incredibily cheap and great quality.
Fuzhou Street - houses all the bookstores and publishing agents and department stores.
Hengsham Street - has several dozens of bars and discotheques. This is the place to hang out at nightime. |
