A walk that covers most of the most important sights of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Easily doable in one day.

The centre of the centre. The place to start if you want to visit Frankfurt.
Starting right at Hauptwache (take exit "Katharinenkirche" from the underground station!) this is Frankfurt's main shopping street, walk up and down and spend all your money!
3. St. Paul's Church (Paulskirche)
A bit south of Zeil and a very important sight regarding Germany's history. This is where German emperors have been crowned from the 13th century on and where Germany's first democratic parliament sat.
4. Frankfurt Romans (Frankfurter Roemer)
Right south of Paulskirche. This might be Frankfurt's top attraction. Rebuilt after WW II, this is Frankfurt's historical heart. Resembles something like a market place but is also where the city hall can be found. Oh, and it is the centre of Frankfurt's Christmas market (end of November to Christmas).
A bit west of the Römer (and already within proximity) this is Frankfurt's biggest church and a really impressive building when it is not covered by a scaffolding (which it always seems to be in recent years...). Still, worth a visit, as it is really nearby.
6. Schirn Art Hall (Kunsthalle)
Some time left? Why not visit an exhibition in Schirn Art Hall. It is located right between Roemer and Dome and should be one of Frankfurt's most interesting museums. Various exhibitions, usually in the field of contemporary art.
Go further south until the Main river stops you. There is a pedestrian bridge nearby. This is the "Eiserner Steg". Walk over to the south side and don't forget to turn around for a good picture opportunity of Frankfurt's skyscrapers.
More museums? Along the south shore of the Main river, there are all kinds of special interest museums. This area (and some nice old buildings) is called the Museumsufer.
9. Schweizer Platz
A nice walk along Schweizer StraÃe gives you the possibility to grab something to eat. Left or right there should be a restaurant of your choice.
10. Public Transport from Schweizer Platz to Willy-Brandt-Platz (U 1)
Why not take the underground back into the city? It's just one station and saves a mile of unnecessary walking...
Get out of the underground. This is not really a top sight, but you might still want to take a look at the European Central Bank. It's the skyscraper with the Euro-monument in front of it (really!). An important place if you happen to be a banker
Go a bit north to the Maintower and take the elevator up. It costs a few Euro, but it is still the best place to get a bird's eye view of Frankfurt.
13. Old Opera House (Alte Oper)
Go a bit northwest (possibly via Fressgass, to be complete) and you will find Frankfurt's Old Opera House. Even though it looks like an ancient building, it has actually been rebuilt in the 80s. Still a worthwhile sight, as it looks like the original Old Opera House that stood here before WW II.
14. Palm Garden (Palmengarten)
Further west through the posh Westend, the trip ends at Palmengarten, Frankfurt's most interesting public garden. For a small admission fee, there are several exhibitions inside and outside throughout the year.
