This massive expanse of green is an oasis in a concrete desert. Come here to picnic, jog, roller skate, take in a concert or just lay out in the sun.
Union Square is an area of Manhattan bustling with activity from the farmers' markets on the weekends (seasonal) to the plethora of shops for those who want to spend a little of their hard-earned dough.
Visitors and locals alike pack the streets of this lower manhattan district shopping for the latest in fashion, sipping coffee at quaint cafes or pursuing art at a variety of galleries
This classic Brooklyn icon has it all. Experience the outdoors by fishing, hiking or biking or go on classic roller coaster rides like the Cyclone. You can even catch minor league baseball there now.
Enjoy a relaxing amble along side the river as you look out onto the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty. If you're feeling active, this is also your spot. There are basketball courts throughout the park, as well as miniature golf, batting cages and a skate park.
What used to be commercial shipping piers have transformed into a mega sports complex. After a long work week, New Yorkers can unwind by taking advantage of the wide range of activities here. There is a golf driving range, rollerskating, ice skating, bowling, swimming and workout facilities, among other things to do. For kids, there is a theatre and video games (which you may enjoy too). Fees and hours vary.
Come here to people-watch or try your skills at chess against some of the best in New York (maybe even the country or even the world!). Just watch out for the harmless but annoying drug dealers.
No need for much of a description here. Catch some of the best theatre in the world here. This always makes for a great Saturday night activity.
9. Madison Square Garden (Concert, Rangers, Knicks)
Although hardly anyone watches hockey anymore and the Knicks are, well, how should I say this, in complete ruins, it's still nice to kick back and watch a ballgame. Who knows, maybe LeBron will be in town when you're there.
Well known for being the site of the culmination of the Red Sox' most dramatic comeback in sports history, this baseball stadium opened in 1923.
