I stayed at the National for 3 nights with my husband and two sons (ages 14 and 18) prior to holidaying in Varadero for a further 10 nights and we had a wonderful experience. The rooms were comfortable even if they are slightly tired looking. However dont let this put you off, staying here is an experience you should not... more

When we arrived at the hotel we were instantly looked after. However i had trouble as i am claustrophobic and cannot use lifts. The staircase was only in use for emergancies and was always locked so i had no choice but to use the lift, which i was none to happy about. We requested a low floor, but were assigned... more

I don't know... I've been wanting to visit the Nacional for ages and took the chance in June this year. It has to be said. The public areas are fantastic... It's such a beautiful old hotel (1930) with an ambience you won't find in modern hotels. The restaurants and bars all had character and I loved the outdoor bar which... more

Liked the hotel, but the staff was rude except from our maid Anamaria. The room was nice with old fachon style ond a nice wiew at the ocean. The food in the restaurant was poor and tasted nothing. But do stay at this hotel when visiting Havanna just for the class and old fachon style. more

Spent 3 nights here at the start of a Virgin holiday, flew to Cayo Santa Maria for 10 nights and then had a last night here. We loved it. Found everyone friendly. It was easy to change our Sterling at the cashier in the lobby. She did turndown tatty notes so take new ones if you can. There is an... more

After being the last passengers to be dropped off the transfer bus we were extremely pleased with this hotel (compared to the others). Both externally and internally it is beautiful. The location is a long walk from the Old Town of Havana and if you are two girls I wouldn't advise walking. To be honest the taxi's are so cheap... more

I was a little worried about staying here after reading the reviews but it was just wonderful. They have done a great job of keeping the style in whic it was built. May be a little old fashioned for some. But it was clean, comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms have been renovated or at least refurbbished. We found the... more

The hotel is nice in the common areas but not very clean/functional. The staff has a terrible attitud (as most people in cuba don't have a service culture at all). You can get very lucky if you find one or two very helpful people in the hotel. The location is great, still not value for money. more

Spent four nights at the Nacional and loved it - beautiful hotel and great location. Whilst its not in the old town we preferred being able to escape when things got hectic and enjoy the more peaceful surroundings of the Nacional. The bar is one of the most beautiful settings looking out across the gardens to the sea. We found... more

magnificient and historical building in Vedado area. A little far from the old town so we stayed here 4 days and visited the surroudings, then moved to another hotel in the old town. good breakfast, nice staff, rooms are average and clean. Prices are high for what you get. You need to pay extra to access the gym which was... more
