Huge lobby with ancient furniture very well kept. Huge rooms with bathrooms and balcony, not so well furnished but overall fine. Nice swimmingpool. Not very large beach, but enough space and beach chairs. Wery controlled by policemen: we felt safe because there was a policeman standing there every 200 meters. On the baech we saw someone being arrested just for... more

just got back.. arrived July 3--- somehow i felt like i was in The Shining... empty, quiet, no staff, no service, no food, bad food, too many cats, urine smell in rooms, only a pool--beach is off over a bridge over a swamp,,,, yes, I left the next day after requesting a transfer from Holasun tours... apparently this hotel is... more

My 27th trip to Cuba Sunwing flight and transfer good as usual. Extra "legroom" seat a blessing for us tall people. After a long 90 min.bus ride arrived at the resort. First impression (after a career in the travel industry) long gone glory. Everything in bad shape, crumbling walls, rotted wood , mold everywhere.Tennis impossible due to ripped net, bridge to... more

Before you read the rest of this review you must keep in mind that I stayed 8 nights for $520 after taxes including flight. Needless to say my expectations were very low. **there are a few hints at the bottom if you are interested. I have some experience with central America and Caribbean all inclusive vacations. The hotel and general... more

A great base in Cuba – you won’t be bored. Two new air conditioned shuttles take you to old Havana punctually at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm to Havana, returning at 1:00 pm or at 6:00 pm, and if you want to stay a little longer, a taxi back to Blau is between 15 and 20 Cuban Convertible Pesos. Take... more

The Resort is a 3 star, maybe 2 and a half. Food is edible, you won't have to worry about double gym visits because you won't gain weight. Some of the staff are rude, especially some of the bar tenders. Some of the staff are excellent. Rooms were clean, but some of the guests said they had bed bug bites.... more

20 February 2008 Got home from the Blau Arenal on the 17th. Fabulous time. Keep in mind that this property offers the tourists Cuba with the sun, ocean, culture/Cuban people, a safe place to stay, plenty of food/drink/activity --- plus a free shuttle into Havana to experience the history, art, and architecture. For under $1100. I was able to experience... more

We just arrived back from a blissful week at the Blau Arenal near Havana this morning. Ignore all other reviews with negative things to say, this hotel was great! It definitely needs some upgrading and repairs (it will be closed in March for just that reason), but we had absolutely no complaints. We had a junior suite in the 200... more

We first stayed here in about 1983. We specificly asked the agent to put us her. she had never herad of it. Welll---- Alot has changed. Staff is rude. The resort is dirty. The rooms smell. The "cleaning" staff has too much to do and not even real mops-- They spray the rooms with bug killer-- they spray the beds... more
