This was my third visit to the Samling, a lovely escape from the outside world. The staff provide excellent service without being stuffy and the hotel is very clean. I shall be returning again as soon as possible. If I have one niggle, I wish the menu had more options for vegetarians/vegans and I wish they would stop serving foie... more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding party and it was a truly lovely and wonderous time. The rooms were fantastic and beautifully appointed and the food good. Above all the staff were so helpful and did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. I would definitely go back to this hotel again! more

We have just been married at The Samling (30/05/08) and I must say that our expectations were met entirely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location is one of the most beautiful in the Lake District in terms of Hotel views of the surrounding area. If any small mistakes were made, they were rectified immediately. The reason we... more

With the imminent arrival of our first baby, we wanted somewhere special to go for Easter and chose The Samling. We read the reviews on Trip Advisor of the hotel, and it almost made us change our mind. I think though it is very difficult to please everyone all the time, especially at this level of pricing, and I am... more

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Samling. Its position is wonderful, with stunning views over the Lake and we found the staff to be very friendly. The food was just fabulous - particularly the afternoon tea! Our only complaints were that there was piped music in the bar and in the dining room - when... more

Well, I can't say The Samlig is a bad hotel, but at its teribly inflated price surely I should feel that it is above average? The reason for staying in a small expensive boutique hotel is to receive a first personal service but The Samling is cutting corners by hiring inexperienced staff. The first thing they did wrong was no... more

To get a flavour of a stay at The Samling, imagine that you have some friends with a large country house overlooking England's largest lake, and they invite you to visit them for a few days. So that's no reception desk, no bar, no internet, no mini-bar in the room, and no formalities or stuffiness. Now you're beginning to get... more

This place is amazing! After staying at sister hotel Seaham hall quite a lot we were dying to try the Samling. Anyway we decided to push the boat out and booked the top suite the 'Manmire' its a seperate cottage 1 minute from the main house and is right next to the hot tub. Our room was lovely better than... more

The Samling is a fantastically located boutique hotel between Windermere and Ambleside, on it's own private estate, with a view of Lake Windermere. We went there for a short weekend stay, to get away from London, and it was truly phenomenal. The most important thing for us that sets it apart from every place we've ever been to is that... more

This hotel shies away from the spotlight, instead preferring to quietly deliver an experience unlike any other. So, given that it's not about to shout from the rooftops any time soon, I'll do it for it.... There are many startling things about this hotel - its location (tucked away high up on the hills above lake Windermere), its looks (rooms... more
