This place is great! Lots of history and the location is beautiful! There is an old WWII bunker right below the hotel - it is really unbelievable. The owner is great and the breakfast was yummy! The room was very comfortable and there is a washer and dryer if you need to do laundry. I can't say enough wonderful things... more

My partner and I stayed at the Turken and found the place charming and atmospheric. If German WW2 is your thing then this is the place to be. The views are just out of this world and the Hotel is central to investigating and educating oneself about Hitler, SS and the Hitler Youth due to the buildings gone and still... more

My friend and I just finished a 3-night stay here and cannot give enough compliments to the staff. We were treated like family and made to feel very welcome. Check in and check out was simple. The breakfasts are fantastic and even offer made-to-order eggs. We had a balcony room overlooking the valley, which I'd recommend if you have a... more

I booked this hotel because of what I read in Frommers about the hotels military significance during the second world war. Well it was fantastic. The staff at teh hotel were more than friendly, the rooms were, spotless and our balcony view was to die for. The Eagles nest is above the hotel and you can see it, Hitlers Berghof... more

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Zum Türken during May of 2007, and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat into the Bavarian Alps. Frau Ingrid Scharfenberg has the most wonderful personality, and is an absolute joy to speak with. The hotel has been in her family for three generations, and it shows through in... more

Had the great pleasure of staying at the zum Turken over the May Day holiday. Frau Scharfenberg, the owner of the Hotel (it's been in her family for over 100 years!) is a treasure, she speaks english, she is very helful and friendly and she is a great cook! The rooms are very clean and offer great panoramic views of... more

My wife and I spent 2 days here. We weren't really expecting a lot so we weren't surprised or disappointed. The history of the hotel and the area is worth the price of admission., which was $140 euros per night. If you go online and read about the hotel and see the pictures you will have a good idea what... more

I really wanted to like this place, but i was pretty disapointed. My girlfriend and I stayed here recently and we had high hopes for the place. We are in our early 30's and on a budget so we booked a room in the attic for 70 euros. with a bath on the second floor (bath very clean, however a... more

As a WWII buff, I had become well aware of the history of the Turken & it's association/proximity to many historical footstepping opportunities . Frau Scharfenberg is an unbelievable dynamo and is also very sweet. My room had a balcony facing over the valley and overlooking the site of Hitlers famed Berghof where he spent significant time. When I went... more

We stayed one night in this historical hotel. This is a lovely property and I am sure was at one time a fabulous resort. The room that we had was reasonable size with a lovely balcony. the "bathroom" was interesting, a very small shower and a toilet behind a curtain. However, the Frau that runs the hotel is the granddaughter... more
