This hotel was incredibly insensitive. I had a death in the family that forced me to cancel two days before I arrived. I called them on time, and noone informed me that I had to cancel online. This also is not stated clearly on their website. They have sent me several nasty e-mails. more

I had planned our trip to Spain for the past year and the consensus opinion amongst all of the guidebooks I regularly use (Rick Steves, Frommer's and Lonely Planet) about where to stay in Madrid was the Hotel Plaza Mayor so I never really considered any other place.
