This hotel was a little bit older than some might like but the service was impeccable. We were greeted by very polite and respectful staff who then advised us on the best places to eat etc with maps. The concierge was most obliging. The room itself was spacious enough and had all the amenities you would need without being posh. more

I read the reviews couple of days after I booked Rex online and was a bit worried about the accommodation I booked. But I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was renovated, simple but spacious (king room). The staff was absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. Dinner at Millie's Restaurant was delicious, staff friendly and very pleasant. The hotel is... more

First i gotta say - the breakfast was terrific and the selection of foods very good - and reasonably priced, especially if you take advantage of the early bird and pay the night before. FULL MARKS for that , however ,WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN, DISAPPOINTING is how i would describe the REX !!!!! Their website ad says newly painted... more

Work booked my room for one night, it was the only accomodation they could get as Parliament was sitting and accomodation was tight. I read the bad reviews on this site and was not looking forward to the stay...even worse, the taxi driver from the airport told me the place was so bad it had been condemed and was about... more

The Rex is an older property that has been undertaking some renovations recently. It is really a budget hotel compared to many others in Canberra and is priced along these lines. We stayed at the Rex for 5 nights in Oct 2007 in a renovated king bed room on the 4th floor. The king is actually 2 single beds pushed... more

We stayed at The Rex last weekend for 2 nights and found it better than expected, although from the reviews here I wasn't expecting much! We stayed as a family, 2 adults and 2 small children. We had a room on the 2nd floor with a King Bed and one single Bed. The kids top 'n' tailed on the single... more

The Rex was perfect it was a little bit old but it was a 10 out of 10 service the staff are really good and helpful. I found that for a last minute booking it was perfect. the food was excellent the pool was the dominate smell of chlorine. The best thing about the stay was that every one was... more

This is a very basic hotel located on Northbourne Ave., about 10 minutes walk from the central Civic district. Rooms are small and functional, but very basic. Cleanliness was OK, but far from perfect. The breakfast restaurant is in the same place were the (tiny) pool is and you have to live both with a strong smell of chlorine and... more

If paint fumes, tiny rooms and mould stains are attributes to your ideal holiday then please consider this hotel. Although I had read the previous reviews, I thought I should give the hotel the benefit of the doubt - I was however seriously disappointed when I got there. There lobby is deceving as it is large looked like it might... more

Its a decent place, if you only use it to sleep. Its a bit old ... I dont think its been renovated since the '70s. A few stains on the carpets and upholstery. Bathroom was tiny (shower reached upto my shoulder ... I'm 171cm tall). And there was a funky smell about the place. On the positive side ... Location... more
