Just returned from a trip to Oz and stayed in the Outback Pioneer for 2 nights. The room we had was very basic with 2 bunk beds and a fridge, shower and wc. There wasn't even a hair dryer (though our neighbour had one and I borrowed hers). The room was part of a bungalow complex and I was pleased... more

If you are travelling on a budget, there's no other option at Yulara. Make sure you pick the bottom bunk, as the only light switches in the 30-bed dorm is for very bright fluoro lights. And with people getting up very early to see the Uluru sunrise, it goes on & off at all hours. The atmosphere of the pub... more

Just face it -- Uluru is so spectacular that you have to see it. Now just face this -- the prices of the hotels in the immediate area are all exceedingly expensive. So, you've got a choice - to get gouged a little bit or a lot. We chose the lowest price accommodations that we could find. In all, this... more

We got a good deal from a discount site for a one night stay in a hotel room. After reading some bad accommodation reviews for Uluru we decided on a stay at the three and a half star Outback Pioneer hotel room. Well I quite liked it here. The reception staff were nice. The room was large, the bed comfortable,... more

All the hotels at Ayres Rock are owned by the same company. This monopoly helps keep the prices high. The room cost was two thirds higher than the other hotels I stayed in during my trip to Australia and the room was the most basic of them all. My sister's room had an ant's nest and a rotting apple under... more

Did the job - comfortable bed / air conditioned rooms / clean bathroom / helpful, polite staff. We took away a lunchbox breakfast one day for a trip and found it very expensive for what we got but other than that, no problems at all. Good live music the evening we were there. more

I stayed in a dorm room with 20 beds. It was good value and I really really really enjoyed my stay! The pool area was nice. Better than expected. Everything was so nice. Only bad thing is that food was so expensive at Ayers Rock Resort. I went to the convenience store to buy food, cause that was the cheapest.... more

Hard to know what to book at Yulara when you've never been there before. We took a "middle of the road" approach and tried the Outback Pioneer for 2 nights (3 people) and were satisfied. Outside temp very hot (36+ deg celsius) and AC worked fine. Equipped with mini-fridge. Room fairly basic but fine under the circumstances. Hotel is really... more

I rented a standard hotel room for a 3 night stay in Feb. 2008. I have no complaints about this hotel, as it is exactly as described on the web site. The room was comfortable and clean with all of the amenities you would expect. One thing to beware of (and this has nothing to do with this particular hotel,... more

If you're happy with basic (a bit of spit and sawdust) - and not looking for luxury this hotel is okay. The rooms we had were spacious with a seating area at the back where we could play cards and drink our Hunter Valley wine with our friends. The pool area was adequate. The food was 'unpretentious' to say the... more
