We went to Paya Bay for a wedding and stayed for 7 days. The service was great. Sometimes the food took awhile, but was well worth it! Get the grouper sandwich-we ate it everyday. The fruit was so fresh and delicious, the plantains were good. Make sure you go down to the beach for the bonfire and dinner on the... more

We stayed the entire week of July 13-20, 2008, at Paya Bay Resort on the northeast end of Roatan. We picked Paya Bay for its isolation and beauty and we were not disappointed. Paya Bay is a special place and sits in undoubtedly one of the most beautiful resort locations on the island on a cliff with sweeping mountain and... more

Paya Bay Hotel owned and staffed by this nature loving Roatanian Lurline McNabb and her family who care deeply about the preservation of their many acres of breathtakingly beautiful native forest . provide an inspiring, extraordinary, gracious vacation retreat. There are two beautiful private beaches and all the individually designed private rooms which seem to grow naturally from the craggy... more

I spent a the first week or June at the Paya Bay Beach and Dive Resort, and enjoyed it. The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to be able to bike around, and they got me a bike. The roads on the east end of the island are rough, but I enjoyed riding around to the... more

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Paya Bay, and we don't think we could have made a better choice. The setting was perfect and we enjoyed watching both sunrises and sunsets over open water. We chose one of the larger rooms set back from the water and benefitted from the sea breeze which kept the room pleasant during the day... more

We were in Roatan for about 2.5 weeks in March-April of this year. While we stayed the majority of the time in budget accomodations in the West End, we took a 3-night "vacation" from our vacation to Paya Bay! This was a splurge for us and we were not disappointed. From West End, we arranged a cab to Paya Bay... more

My wife and I – late 40’s and 50’s – stayed at the Paya Bay resort on the North Coast of Roatan, in mid February 2008. It was a delightful week nicely aligned with our expectations of rustic, third world, adventuresome, accommodations. Our goal was to escape winter cold weather to a small lodge in a beautiful place removed from... more

My wife and I stayed at Paya Bay for one night during the middle of a seven day trip to the Island. It was our second trip to Roatan. Both times were for diving and we stayed at Fantasy Island. We had seen Paya from a distance the previous year and wanted to venture out and find something more private.... more

Our recent stay at Payabay can only be described as "magical". There's something about this place! The site is gorgeous, and the reef is pristine, but the ambiance created by Lurlene's family and staff is what makes the place wonderful. The rooms are nicely furnished and very clean, the food is fresh and creatively prepared, and the hotel is casual... more

We stayed at Paya Bay for 4 nights after spending 6 days at a very nice, quiet boutique B&B (Cocolobo) on the west end, which we loved. We are avid travelers and divers and hoped to cap off our trip with a lot of diving and a bit of luxury. Unfortunately—and although this is not reflected on PB’s site—they no... more

Management response from

I feel I needed to respond to this review as the subject line is very misleading. Paya Bay offers diving as one of several activities for our guests. To offer this activity, we have contracted with Tropical Island Divers (TID), a dive operation based one bay to the West of us. This arrangement is not atypical as diving is a...
