We stayed two nights in between a trip to Halong Bay. The hotel is nothing to write home about but is a decent place to stay. The pluses: good location, low price, good breakfast, everything works, friendly staff (yes!), no noise (7th floor). The minuses: a little worn out; slight smell of smoke on the no-smoking floor. Indications are that... more

We stayed here for only one night - and were apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but our preferred hotel the Anise where we had previously stayed three nights was full. First thing we noticed was that the name Guoman had been covered over on all the Hotel's livery - even the soap wrappers. The new name was the... more

A well presented, quiet hotel with all the facilities you need. Personally I would have preferred a more central place to stay but couldn't fault the hotel at all. Staff were pleasant, breakfasts fine, room well appointed. more

Guoman is regrettably slipping from its position as a premier "boutique hotel". Rooms are becoming "tired" and grimy. Staff are equally as "tired" and disinterested. Food in dining room is relatively expensive and very poor quality. After two visits over the last twelve months it is time to find a new "bolthole" in Hanoi for next stay. more

The Guoman Hotel in Hanoi is a medium sized hotel, in a relatively quiet district, along a tree lined avenue with shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. I had to stay there for 2 nights on a business trip and having arrived on a Sunday afternoon, I wanted to change some dollars from the hotel as the banks were... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it clean and well located, taxis into the centre for about $3 dollars. Can't really understand the comments about the staff being unfriendly, they were lovely to us, and helped us to book a wonderful and well priced trip to Halong Bay with a private guide. Having stayed in many 4 stars... more

My daughter and son-in-law were staying at this hotel , I was at the Hanoi Elegance 2. The Guoman could never take a message - as no one clearly speaks or understands English . They also charge $12 extra daily for internet service. My hotel has free internet service. Nothing local to the Guoman- need to take a cab to... more

Agree with the previous reviewers that the Guoman's location and comfort & cleanliness are a bit above average. The breakfast buffet is a bit thin but still adequate. Front desk staff --- I totally agree --- are surly and mean but that is sometimes part of Viet Nam in general so one has to tune it out. Vietnamese cannot come... more

I stayed here for three nights in Dec 2006. Although there were no major problems, I would not stay here again. Positives: - The bed was quite comfortable. - The gym had well-maintained, up-to-date equipment, although the temperature in the room was considerably higher than I would have liked. - There are good restaurants within walking distance. - The hotel... more

On a multi-week business trip to Vietnam, including about 3 weeks in Hanoi, stayed at Guoman. Clean, safe, well cleaned, well maintained. Nice bathrooms, greeting basket of fruit. Good, central location, near good restaurants. A colleague told me that he made friends with a local at a nightclub and when she visited him at his hotel, the front desk charged... more
