Hotel Rio Amazonas is absoluely gorgeous, the rooms are large and the breakfast yum. It is not cheap but nor is it the most expensive. For the price, you can not do better. I definitely recommend it. The service was friendly and it is close to restaurants and nightlife. Unfortunately it is a bit of a hike to the old... more

I stayed here as part of a GAP trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. The hotel is excellent value for money. It´s very clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable (my single room actually had a double bed) and the staff are helpful and courteous, and many speak English. You can also store luggage securely for long periods of time... more

The staff are very friendly, helpful, and most speak decent English to be able to communicate effectively. The hotel itself is quite clean, comfortable beds, satellite TV, and and fairly well maintained. If staying there over a weekend, be sure to either wear earplugs or try to get a room on the back side of the hotel--this is because the hotel... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed 4 nights in total in this hotel and I think it was great value for what we paid. Big, clean rooms with great views (if you end up on the first floors just ask for another room and they'll give you one if they can). Tv with lots of English speaking channels, safebox, soaps etc.... more

My wife and I stayed here as part of a GAP Galapagos cruise (an amaing experience) and also booked some additional nights. The rate for our stay was $63USD plus taxes. The rooms are spacious - we had 2 queen beds so could spread our stuff over the second bed. We had a nice view on the 5th floor looking... more

I enjoyed a stay of eleven nights at this hotel in November. I arrived at 11.30 pm after a 20 hour journey and found the front counter helpful and professional, making sure I was settled in quickly with minimal formality. My room was on floor eight and was quite large and very comfortable. The fittings and condition of the room... more

I recently stayed at the Rio Amazonas for 5 nights before and after a Galapagos adventure. The hotel is in a good location with lots of excellent restaurants nearby. It's not the safest neighbourhood at night, so I took a taxi whenever I needed to venture out. The hotel restaurant has very good food, with excellent prices and excellent service.... more

We stayed at this hotel before and after our Galapagos trip. The hotel itself is really quite nice and the staff very helpful. Rooms are large and comfortable. But most of the rooms face the street and it is NOISY! There is music and voices from nearby restaurants. We heard police sirens and angry voices in the middle of the... more

My wife and I stayed at the Rio Amazonas before and after our trip to the Galapagos. We found the staff to be very helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. Nice touches were the bathrooms, safe in the room, the full cable service on TV and free Internet service in the lobby. They stored our extra luggage at no... more

We stayed here in Nov 2006. Hotel is nice, business class hotel. Clean efficient. Amazing breakfast in the restaurant next door and always cookies/coffee/tea in the lobby. Rooms were clean, and fairly "American style". Tvs, large beds, bathrooms with shampoo etc. Lobby staff were helpful and took messages for us regarding our tours etc (we were going to Galapagos). But... more
