We spend 3 days at the Hotel. since 8 in the morning music is on at the pool area directly next to the rooms, The worse came on Friday night 11 of July, on the park next to the Hotel is what they call "cultural Friday", is very fun for spring breakers, but the outdoor band (in the street) few... more

Sol Y Mar isn't cheap by any stretch for Ecuador, but it's absolutely worth it. Our very first impression of the hotel was that it looked and felt like a multi-million-dollar Cancun-style professional resort transplanted to the Galapagos -- without ruining any of the surrounding beauty. As an alternative to a multi-day cruise around the Galapagos Islands, we decided to... more

The views are spectacular, the rooms are clean and the staff friendly....but this hotel is very overpriced at $195 per night. the rooms are simple and comfortable, but not worthy of the price given no clock, no tv, no fluffy towels, robes, etc. the biggest complaint we had was that music blares in the pool area, where every room faces,... more

We were looking forward to the Galapagos Islands. We ended up having a wonderful time at the hotel Solymar ! The view from the upper corner room we had was spectacular! Renalto gives a show each week throwing fish to the birds, sea lions, herons, and the other 60 or so guests that arrive from the island and sea. The... more

I thought the hotel was a bit pricey, but it was very clean, well kept, good breakfast, staff was friendly and efficient, and it was close to everything--I couldn't have asked for a better location. I would not hesitate to stay there again and I do plan to return sometime next year. I will post photos later. Barbara more

All the other reviews are right. It is not luxurious but really you couldn't ask for a better place, better service or more reasonable price. Renato is everywhere all the time and makes it all come together. more

I booked the SolYMar directly, via Gloria, after reading reviews on this site. We arrived at 8.30am, after coming from Isabela via boat, and our room was not yet ready. They said it would be ready by 11am, and watched our luggage for us. We had a lovely breakfast in their restaurant while we waited, and when we had finished... more

The location of the Solymar is absolutely the BEST. In 15 minutes you can walk to the Charles Darwin Research Station, and to downtown with lots of restuartants, shops, supermarket, and where the boats are docked. The room is simply furnished but clean and with AC, the owner and staff are most pleasant and helpful and have all the information... more
