Ambassador East is on a quiet side street just north of Water Tower and great shopping. The staff was friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean but small. Overall it's a great hotel for the price. more

I chose this hotel based on reading past reviews and we couldn't have been happier. Everyone in our party thought it was fabulous and you just cannot find a better, more friendly staff, from the doorman to the front desk! The street it's on is beautiful, lined with trees and flowers and it is located close to everything! We were... more

Quaint boutique hotel nicely located at the north end of the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave). Excellent service, quiet neighborhood, good atmosphere/food at the Pump Room restaurant and lounge, nearby parking (at a reasonable price), well-appointed rooms, and great restaurants within walking distance on Rush Street. Stayed in both a suite and a king-bed standard room and both were clean, comfortable,... more

We stayed at the Ambassador East for a weekend gettaway and we were quite satisfied. We booked off of priceline and for under $200/night, what more could we ask for? The location is great (very close to the Magnificent Mile, Rush Street, the Subway) with a lot of sites within walking distance, and the best part is that at the... more

We stayed 3 nights, 4 days in Chicago at the Ambassador East. It is a decent hotel, overall. There was one person at the desk who was "eh" but everyone else was super nice and super helpful. The location is really good...walking through charming residential neighborhoods on our way to the Magnificent Mile. I used the gym also everyday we... more

Be prepared the hotel is old. It is on the historic list. The is updating to be done no doubt.. So just be forewarned. It is clean and the staff is phenomenal. Having said that, you can not beat the location. Right in the heart of the Gold coast. Take a train from O'hare right into the city. It drops... more

I stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding group and it was my first visit to Chicago. The location was great; the area charming, restaurants and shops, even a farmer's market on Saturday morning, within walking distance. I was, however, extremely disappointed with check-in and front desk service. I arrived early, and while completely understanding that my room... more

I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel in/near downtown for the 4th of July holiday, and I found it with the Ambassador East. As others have noted here, the neighborhood is pleasant, and it's a short walk to where you want to go. It's a couple of blocks to the red line subway, but, surprisingly, I hardly used it... more

Booked a room online and got a great rate under $200 which is very cheap for a summer hotel room in Chicago in this nice location, 3 blocks I think from the water. Even though our rate was so cheap, the service was wonderful, the front desk were polite& cheerful, the doormen and valet were great and helpful, and they... more
