Newbury Street is a great location -- you can walk to so many shops, restaurants, and historic sites. The renovation (nearly over) did not interfere with a very enjoyable stay. The staff were most helpful. The room was quite adequate and easy to access. Breakfast is served in a delightful french restaurant located in the lower level. The pastries were... more

We spent two nights at the Newbury Guest house and found it lovely and impeccably clean. They were doing some renovations on the main area but the workers were very courteous. We arrived on the red-eye at about 8 in the morning and the staff allowed us to leave our bags until we could check in. Additionally, they changed our... more

Wonderful location in the heart of Newbury Street and within walking distance of all the major sights in Boston. The only place I needed to take public transport was to Cambridge and the bus stop is a 10 min walk at the top of Newbury street on Mass Ave. Very helpful staff, clean and comfortable accommodation, quiet (I had a... more

The hotel has a brilliant location. The building was undergoing some refurbishment but nothing too major. The room was ok but our ceiling was less then attractive with a few patches of some sort of damp or rain problem . The room was cool and quiet.Breakfast was a selection of pastries perhaps a little fresh fruit and yoghurt could be added... more

The Newbury Guest House was thoroughly enjoyable. Having been a former Boston resident, I knew the location was second to none, and a B&B experience would truly capture the spirit of Boston. It was a lovely hotel with basic amenities as expected of a hotel in this class. Everything was adequate and the quirkiness of the building (sloped floors and... more

We arrived there brains numbed by a 9 hour flight and a drive through a rainstorm so basically we would have slept anywhere. We slept like babies here and woke to a flawless sunny day. We'd booked for two nights initially but stayed a third. I'd read (with trepidation) some of the reviews on here after I'd booked frightened me... more

It was my first time in Boston and I was in town by myself. I wanted to be in a good area but refused to spend $1000 on a few nights stay. I paid $150 a night at this awesome little hotel and was on the "best street in Boston" according to friends and locals. The room was small but... more

Other reviews had warned about the tiny elevator and stairs in all the wrong places for getting luggage around. We had called the hotel ahead of time and reserved one of a handful of parking spots right outside the hotel (via alleyway in back of hotel). It was tight, but okay. The rooms were tiny, but still I said I... more

Excellent location. Staff friendly. Room decent size but decor dark. Very clean room and had iron and hairdryer. Downside was the breakfast, this was terrible. Our room (Room 306) was next to the lift, some creaking every so ofetn, but it did not really bother us, seemed to add to the charm of staying in an old building! Would I... more

I stayed in the Newbury Guest House in May 2008. It is located in the middle of Backbay. Surrounded by great shops, close to Boylston Street and a subway stop is closeby. The room was a bit small, but very acceptable. Breakfast was basic (coffee, croissants and muffins), but it is still nice to have. The only thing that bothered... more
