We didn't know about this place until it was recommended by Emeril Lagassi (to whom we owe a debt of gratitude), how corny is that? Yes, its a touristy spot ... very bad for true gourmets. I've read here reviews that complained the food was not flavorful enough; look, you heavily spice food to cover it up when the ingredients... more

The problem with Café Fina is not related to the food or service as much as it is related to the owner, Dominic Mercurio, who seems to have missed the whole “customer service” concept. The bread, crab cake appetizer, service, etc. were fine up to the point of receiving our entrees. My “Market Price” ($40.00) crab had a “short curly”... more

This is an excellent choice for dinner on Fisherman's Wharf. Great views from the dining rooms (ask to be seated on the second floor). No touristy atmosphere. We had the fresh BBQ sardines, which were amazing, and the roasted garlic served with goat cheese, roasted red peppers and olives as appetizers -- yum! My entree was a delicious snapper topped... more

Perhaps it was the luck of the draw with other reviewers....who is in the kitchen....day of the week.....all that I can say is that it was a wonderful dinner. Fabulous view by the second floor windows, with the harbor and playing otters. Snapper was fresh with great sides, veal was cooked to perfection. House Pinot Grigio was local and excellent... more

My wife and I came here for lunch after a morning at the aquarium. It's located on the wharf which is an immediate turn-off due to the large amounts of tourists squeezing thru the street there. It was busy but we were seated after a 10-15 minute wait...no big deal. My wife ordered the special which was a blackened salmon... more

We should have known better. A large group of us went to Monterey and set up dinner at Cafe Fina - had a choice of salmon, pasta or steak with calamari, salad and dessert. The price was $44.00. The food was mediocre - tough calamari, standard salad, very marginal entrees (the salmon and pasta were barely passable). For dessert, a... more

I'm giving Cafe Fina a 2-star only because of the view from the restaurant, which is gorgeous. Otherwise, this is a place to avoid. I ordered sand dabs, which are not hard to fix. However, they were terrible. They were greasy and soppy and soggy. Yuck. The "fresh" vegetables on the side were literally not recognizable, either by appearance or... more

We stumbled into Cafe Fina on our way down the coast, not having read any reviews or knowing anything about the place. We had an extremely pleasant lunch for about $50. The seafood was flavorful, the presentation superb, the staff friendly and attentive. more

We went to Cafe Fina based on reviews saying it's #1 restaurant in Monterey, however, it was definitely not. The location is great, right on the water & the staff wasn't very attentive but the food was just not that great. Many of the dishes didn't have that much flavor. We had the Fina pasta dish with bay shrimp and... more
