Leaving tomorrow -- two quick JR questions! |
|
The day is finally here! I just wanted to run a couple of things by you brilliant folks: After reading about several options here on TA and elsewhere, we're taking the NEX from Narita to Tokyo Central Station and then a cab from the station to Hotel Kitcho. I just went to confirm this plan on the Kitcho website (http://www.kitcho.co.jp/english/fly_map.html) and found additional specific directions I hadn't noticed before indicating a 25 minute subway ride from Tokyo Central? Elsewhere on the same page and on TA it seems a 1200Y cab trip should do the trick. Should I rethink my plans? Additionally, is Tokyo Central Station the same station we'll go to two days later for our train to Hiroshima? Thanks a bunch! |

Yes, "Tokyo Central Station" is Tokyo Station--the same as the Shinkansen to Hiroshima leaves from. No one calls it "Tokyo Central". I gather from their site that you have a choice of a complicated subway transfer or the taxi. Take the taxi; you'll be tired and ladden with baggage. Print out the Japanese-language access map for the driver. The hotel is the red square: http://www.kitcho.co.jp/japanese/access.html But consider taking the convenient, comfy Airport Limosine bus to Tokyo City Air Terminal (TCAT), then a short taxi ride (you risk the bus getting stuck in traffic, but you're not driving!). Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see the frequent service:

These are the instructions from that website: 1. 12-18 minutes by taxi from Tokyo Station. 1000-1500 yen. 2. 25 minutes by subway from Tokyo Station to the nearest station and WALK

Thanks so much for the tips. We are actually avoiding the limo bus for two reasons: we get into Narita at 4:30PM, which to me means that we will undoubtedly get stuck in rush hour on the limo bus but not the NEX. Also we have 21 day JR passes that we may as well squeeze every yen out of!

4:30PM arrival is very bad for using the bus. You absolutely will get stuck in traffic. The JR Pass seals the deal. Don't bother with the subway. Use the taxi. <<<We are actually avoiding the limo bus for two reasons: we get into Narita at 4:30PM, which to me means that we will undoubtedly get stuck in rush hour on the limo bus but not the NEX.
