New Orleans Monteleone

I was very happy with the hotel. It was a very convenient location to everything in the French Quarters. I enjoyed a one hour massage at the hotel spa. Very nice and clean hotel. Only down side is that the room was small. But I definitely would stay at this hotel again.

Excellent Place

Not much to say. Hotel staff are all top notch. Located in a prime position in the french quarter walking distance to most places. Beds comfortable, other room amenities are as expected.

Old world elegance

This is a lovely hotel well-known by locals. Because of its age, it isn’t in picture perfect condition. The rooms are small. However, the beds are extremely comfortable, the lobby is gorgeous, the employees are courteous. I was charged for two days of parking by accident and it was quickly resolved. It was extremely busy in the lobby and bar due to "Tales of the Cocktail", if I could have stayed another time I would have, but it was a family reunion. The rest of my party stayed two blocks down at the Omni Royal which was beautiful, very quiet, and priced lower. I’d also recommend that property.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

check for local music acts at the Preservation Jazz Hall it’s 10 dollars and you should get in line an hour early; have a muffaletta at Central Grocery (closed Sun and Mon); Acme oyster bar is a block away for casual local food (long lines though); Mr.B’s right across the street for fine dining (the gumbo is fantastic, the soft shell crab special was the best I’ve ever had and I was born/raised in ’Nawlins)

Love it

This hotel can get a bit noisy (street performers) and the rooms are small, but other than that it is awesome. Great customer service, centrally located, and dog friendly. All of the employees went out of their way to be friendly to our dog. I would definitely stay again

A Little Disappointed

This hotel is probably a three star property. We had booked it for our wedding annniversary and found the hotel a little disappointing. The hotel was clean and in a very convenient location but a little run down. Our room was very basic, had NO windows and was not what we had expected after reading all of the positive reviews. Also the parking lot was full and since the hotel does not offer valet parking we had to find parking on our own.

Traveler's tip

Use the Holiday Inn parking garage half a block closer to Canal St if the Monteleone garage is full.

Elegance in the French Quarter

From the beautiful lobby to the views from the roof-top pool and exercise room, the Monteleone really delivered on world-class charm and service. And you’re right in the French Quarter! The bar located off the lobby was unique, with its carousel motif -- the bar stools actually revovled (slowly, or course) around the bar tender! The daily parking rates were quite high, but the attendants were very friendly and courteous. Overall, the Monteleone is quite a bargain considering its location, charm, service, and history.

Traveler's tip on dining

We had a wonderful dinner at the Bayona restaurant on Dauphine.

great hotel

Perfect location, friendly staff, great service. Be wary of late night snacking, they are still having a shortage of people to work in NOLA, so must restauarants (and room service) close at 10.

Monteleone

Great location- on beautiful street and only one block from Bourbon. Great restaurants close by. Some of the rooms are pretty small so beware of that when you’re making reservation. Overall- it’s very nice and the rooftop pool is great.

The Best Place to Stay in the French Quarter

If you want to be near the action, but stay in an elegant hotel with fantastic service and ambiance, this is the place. One block from Bourbon street. Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. Great bar and restaurants. Rooms have internet access for $9.99 per day.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try Acme Oyster House right around the corner. Great Louisiana food at the best price. You might have to wait in line to get a table.

Overall Great!

One of New Orleans oldest hotels with lots of literary character. We loved it. And it has a great bar in the hote: The Carousel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take the Hurricane Katrina tour. You will learn a lot and be very moved.

A Very Nice Hotel

Obviously recently renovated with good elevators and good air conditioning (a big plus!), this is not your little French Quarter Botique Hotel. It is a business travelers hotel that does a very nice job for everyone. A French Quarter location but on the very edge, it is a little bit of a hike to the French Market and that part of town. Convenient to the Canal Street street car where you can connect to the Riverside street car if you are not into walking. Definitely Recommend.

Traveler's tip on dining

Within three blocks of Arnaud’s and GW Fins. Acme Oyster House right around the corner and the Fleur de Lis, a little greasy spoon two blocks away, is a great breakfast option. Annette’s, a maybe better breakfast option just a couple blocks and heavenly Johnny’s Po’Boys about a 10 minute walk.

Perfect French Quarter hotel!

This was the perfect French Quarter hotel! And rather affordable as well for a grand historic hotel. The rooftop pool was great as well and refreshing after a hot day in the sun and humidity.

Quiet yet only a block from the loudest part of the French Quarter

We were there for a convention (easy 10 minute walk) and wanted to try and at least see a bit of N.O. so picked the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter. We were on the 15th floor, on the back side, looking towards Canal Street and the it was absolutely silent up there. We’d heard horror stories about the noise never stopping in this part of New Orleans--only a block away from Bourbon Street--but wanted some ambience. The hotel was perfectly located, with access to all the various evening meetings and parties. We even ran over the take the streetcar to see a little bit of the garden District before we left. Great hotel for business or families who want to get out of the party atmosphere and go to sleep at a reasonable hour but need access to the best of New Orleans.

Wonderful Old Feel Hotel

Right in the heart of the French Quarter this hotel is steps away from everything from Bourbon Street to the trolley lines, restaurants, the river and of course Cafe Du Monde! It is a great old feel hotel and has a great roof top pool. While I didn’t eat there - I would definitely go back! The only draw back - they do charge for internet connections.

Nice hotel - great staff!

Very nice hotel that was comfortable and not too fancy for the French Quarter. The staff was very friendly, helpful and always smiling. This was my first visit that I stayed in the French Quarter, as other trips .. I have stayed in the Garden District and the Business District. I took a chance, and yes - the hotel is very close to the Bourbon Street action! We did ask to move our room, after our first night of being up all night from the street noise. The staff was very accomodating was very easy to work with. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the French Quarter. Everything is within walking distance, and the staff was excellent!

Nice Hotel

This was a nice hotel in a great location for shopping and partying in the French Quarter. The bar in the hotel was fun with a slowly turning seating area and bustling with people. The rooms are small but nice. There is no jacuzzi with the pool.

Great place to stay

Great access to the French Quarter but far enough off of Burbon Street to be quiet at night. Excellent facility.
