We had read all the reviews, and looked around to see what Bonaire had to offer and this place sounded ideal. We liked the idea of being able to meet new people and share a common interest and stay somewhere really nice. Deep Blue View lived up to all of that - it was a great choice for our first visit to Bonaire and will most certainly be the first choice for our return trip.
The people we met were a real mix but everyone got on so well and Menno and Esther made it easy by creating a really friendly setting and looking after everyone from the moment you arrived.
They also helped Dave, after a real problem with his mask was preventing him from diving, by offering a range of different masks for him to try out in the pool before we did another dive. He tried one and it worked like a dream and the diving was just so good after that. They were so kind and offered the mask to Dave to keep which was so lovely!
We all had a great night at the BBQ (Menno, Dave is still raving about the steak!) and again Esther took care of me by cooking a special dish for me as I dont eat meat.
The best bits were the food too - Esther made an incredible apple pie for an afternoon snack when we came back from diving, and Menno took her muffins out on the boat for a mid dive snack.
There has been so much thought put into everything and it is no wonder these guys have been voted best place to stay for two years!
Bonaire itself was lovely - we ate in some lovely restaurants and a visit to the salt mines and Jibe City, where the windsurfers hang out, is a must.
We really fell in love with the place and will deffinately return - just hope its not too long before we do.

We just got back from our second visit to Deep Blue View and once again it exceeded our expectations! We were a little worried that it would not live up to our memories after our wonderful trip there in October 2006 - but not to fear -- Esther and Menno continue to be the most thoughtful, gracious, organized, and fun hosts - with help from the two sweetest dogs in the Caribbean.

Again, the stay at DBV was completely relaxing - we felt we were among friends who were taking wonderful care of us. We met three other couples who were all repeat customers and we all agree that Esther and Menno are the best!

Once again, we were unusual in that we didn't dive, but had terrific experiences snorkeling. We saw a large turtle on the first day and followed a spotted eagle ray on the second (he was close to the boat mooring off of Andrea II). Esther gave us a great guided drift snorkeling trip on Klein Bonaire (more turtles there) while Menno waited in the boat for us. And of course there are lots and lots of beautiful fish and coral to see and the great thing about Bonaire is that snorkelers can usually see everything too and it is easy access from the shore.

We also took a wonderful sailing cruise with DBV's partners, Walter and Liezeth from the Bowalie around Bonaire. (Do take a lot of sunscreen if you go sailing!). This sailing trip is a great way to see the island and to snorkel in a new spot.

We had to cut our trip short unfortunately due to the flooding situation at home (we signed up for tripadvisor when we lived in Washington, DC area, but now are in Des Moines) - so I did not get to take the Dive Intro course with Esther as planned and we missed the rum punch sunset cruise and BBQ (definitely a fun event). But - we are already planning to return - in January we hope!

The half week that we did have was delightful. After snorkeling, coming back to relax in a hammock or by the pool at DBV was a treat. They have a jacuzzi now and neat waterfall effect in the pool. Breakfast was delicious as remembered, lots of good cooking from Esther. And, the "magic table" where a guest can put dirty glasses or dishes (all available as is a shared refrigerator for guests) remains another great touch that is there. Of course, Bully and Usco only made the visit better this time - we'll miss them too.

Once again, we cannot recommend DBV enough! Hope to go back again soon! Marcia and Mark

“A week in diving paradise”

Not alot to add to all the other reviews but to say we agree on all the positives. I pointed out DBV to friends in 2007, who went and completed their PADI certification with Esther and Menno, while having a great time. My wife and I returned with them in April 2008 to a wonderful week of shore and boat diving. As everyone has mentioned, Esther and Menno make the most excellent hosts, from the breakfasts and special snacks, to their relaxed nature in and out of the water making us feel completely at home. Among the special dive moments were the drift dive off Klein Bonaire. Menno placed the boat right on target for our ascent. Also, the night diving with Esther, her specialty, jumping off Oil Slick Leap at sunset. My favorite dive spot after 13 dives was English Garden, thanks to Menno's direction. The town pier dive was way beyond expectations, too bad we couldn't go back at night. We felt like our time at DBV went so slow (relaxed) but yet so fast.

A last comment about the food on Bonaire. We were a little worried about dining out based on other reviews. We found all food at every restaurant we went to to be of very high quality, no bad experiences. Among our best dining experiences were It Rains Fishes, Capriccio, City Cafe, and Wil's Tropical Grill.

“Truly Unforgettable!!!”

We just returned from a week vacation at the Deep Blue View and all I can say is truly unforgettable. Our week at the DBV will go down as one of the best vacations we have ever had and I can't wait to return. The Deep Blue view is a B&B style resort with 5 rooms that that caters to divers with many different packages to meet all your diving needs. What makes the Deep Blue View so special is the personalized service provided by the hosts, Esther and Menno.

Esther and Menno make you feel like family from the moment when you arrive on the island where Menno greets you at the airport and the personalized service never ends until the minute you leave. This includes breakfast cooked masterfully every morning by Esther, boats trips and dives hosted by Menno, complete with his hillarious sense of humor. It goes on and on, from fresh baked muffins on the dives to the end all, the Rum Cruise/BBQ night. Esther and Menno pull out all the stops and put together a feast fit for a king where you can spend the night reminiscing about the amazing week.

Other highlights include Bully and Usco, the 2 dogs that leisurely roam the grounds that provide constant companionship and entertainment for the guests. Bonding with the other guest at the DBV is a welcome treat and finally the diving. This was actually our first dive trip and I could not possibly imagine a better place to dive then Bonaire. The conditions are perfect and Menno is an awesome dive master that makes you totally comfortable with everything going on.

I could not imagine a more relaxing and personal vacation experience. The Deep Blue View is truly a paradise for me and Esther and Menno are friends I hope to spend many more weeks with. There is no question I will be back soon.

“Honeymoon to remember”

Deep Blue View Intimate Resort & Villa Safir

Just returned from the sunny oasis that is Bonaire and our lovely hosts Esther and Menno from the DBV. We had to postpone our honeymoon as there was not availability when wanted it. It was worth the wait. This was our third trip to Bonaire and our second at DBV. We can't imagine staying any where else.

As you have read, breakfast is part of the package and is absolutely divine! Esther will make you whatever you want and it is always hot and served with a smile. Be sure to try the cinnamon/sugar pancakes (even the plain ones are great!) at least once. Actually, if you try them, you will have some every day! I seem to find about two pounds everytime I go there! You can definately tell that they ran a restaurant in Holland.

Both Menno and Esther are very helpful with diving and snorkeling activities. Their insight into diving and the places to go are right on. There was a pod of dolphins traveling thru the area when we were there and they were in the exact spot we were at 10 minutes after we surfaced. Of course! But it was a real treat to even be able to observe them from the shore.

The room we were in was very comfortable and the fact that you could take a long, hot shower in the afternoon after diving was a real treat, especially since they save that water and the water from the sinks and use it to water the beautiful grounds. All of the water is safe to drink as it is desalinated sea water. Nice to know you don't have to worry about getting sick.

Mosquitos can be a problem in the early mornings and the evenings, but when we were there there was a nice breeze each evening that seemed to keep them away for the most part. The BBQ night was very nice. It started with a Rum Punch cruise and then ended back at DBV with a variety of salads, BBQ'd fish and (that particular night) a chicken satay. It was totally awesome! The best chicken satay I have ever had, hands down.

It was hard to come home, especially since it was snowing (!) in Denver yet again this year. The flip-flops off the plane made for some cold feet! The warm, sunny weather and the ambiance of the DBV will make you want to stay. It happened for Esther and Menno, it could happen to you. I told Esther that I was going to write a bad review so that they would always have availability for us when we want to visit. Heck, like I said already, I had to postpone my honeymoon just so I could stay there! I was even offered another destination and declined. You will not regret visiting Bonaire or staying at the DBV. Enjoy!
