We stayed at the Punta cana from 12th-26th June. The hotel is fantastic.I was slightly concerned about food issues reading the reviews but there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Neither of us had any stomach problems. There is so much food choice you never get bored and the quality is very good. The a la cartes were good also, I highly recomend the Bamboo, and The Mexican but were less impressed with the italian.
The grounds are just amazing, spotlessly clean as are the rooms. We stayed in the 2000 building which is very close to the beach and the pools as are the 3000 and 4000 buildings. The rooms are not out of this world but as I mentioned really clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities a mini bar which is stocked regularly with water, soft drinks and beer. Good air con and fans. The balcony was a little small though.
Service in the restaurants and bars is fantastic, the cocktails wine and beer are all good. (we can recommend the mojitos and the g & t's, beware though their idea of measures is a lot bigger than ours!!!)You never hang around waiting for a drink they are always ready to get you another.
The spa is fantastic, great treatments and beautiful inside, we had an ocean massage for two which lasted 50 mins and was very reasonably priced. The gym is also really well equipped.
The shows on an evening are good fun too, we were not really into that kind of thing at first but found them to be really entertaining and a good laugh and soon found ourselves getting involved. The animation team work so hard to put on a good show, the ones we went to were The Michael Jackson, Mr Palladium, Couples show (very funny) the more you join in the funnier it is trust me!!!!
The beach is beautiful and you can walk for miles. There are people on the beach asking about trips and selling bits and bobs but if you say no thankyou they are very good and just leave you too it. The same with the animation team they always try to get you invloved but just saying no thankyou and they leave you to carry on relaxing. We went to the disco a couple of nights which is good but didnt play too much in the way of English music, good if you fancy a bit of a boogie though.
Trips....... Always worth taking some extra cash for these as there is so much to do. We did the Bavaro Splash (drive your own speed boat to a platform in the middle of the sea followed by snorkelling) really great half a day, Reef Explorer, again brill, you are taken out by boat to a platform where you are given nibbles and drinks follwed by swimming with Nurse sharks, stingrays, snorkelling over a reef and massages, Ocean world a little expensive as you have to get a plane there but agin a really good day out swimming with dolphons etc and a really lovely park with loads to do.
Overall we had an amazing time, the people are so friendly and always like to say hello, I would so recommend this hotel, the time we went was also a really good time to go as it is a little quieter but we still had good weather with the exception of 1 days rain.
