We stayed at the Sandals Inn, but bussed to MoBay and the Royal Carribean for activities. The buses left every half hour on the hour (9:30, 10:30, etc) and the shuttle was invaluable as oftentimes, we shuttled back and forth twice during the day, once for the activities, and once for the nighttime dining.
This proved to be the best of both worlds.
Both MoBay and the Caribbean had all the activities we were looking for: the kayaks, the sailboats, the ocean biking, the scuba diving, the snorkeling, the ocean swimming, the pool volleyball games, and the pool bar.
However, when that part of the day was over, we enjoyed the camaraderie of the clientele at the Inn, the effervescent personality of Narda who makes the Inn's world go round, and the constant friendliness of the staff. Practically everybody at the Inn knew each other's names, and what they did for a living, and most ironically, I even found a fellow traveler who went to the same college I did, a small division III school in Pennsylvania.(it's easy to see why Sandals Inn was so highly rated by Trip Advisor).
It was the first time we had ever been to Jamaica, and should we return, we most definitely would follow the same game plan as this year; which happens to be one of Sandals' mantras, "Stay at one (Sandals Inn), and play at three."

“Fabulous place where "everybody knows your name"!”

My husband and I just returned from our 8 night honeymoon at Sandals Inn. We read reviews and were fully aware of the pros and cons. We made our decision to stay there based on our preference of a less crowded, more intimate, "REAL" type place. Sandals Inn was all of those things. The employees were fabulous! Since there are only 50 rooms, they know the guests by name and really look after you! Wolfe, Dacre, Jack, Roy, Lady Meeks, Narda, Jonathan, Omar, Paul, to name a few... they were awesome. SO sincere and sweet! Always happy to serve and show a good time. No attitudes-- always very nice.

In addition to getting to know the staff, you are able to get to know other guests since the hotel is small. We met fabulous couples whom we really enjoyed spending time with and were quite sad to say goodbye to. I'm quite sure the experience at the other Sandals resorts are different due to their size.

The room was cozy and nice enough. Nothing overly luxurious, but for us, it was perfect.

The food was very good. Definitely make a trip to Oleander and the Italian restaurant at Montego Bay resort... those two were our favorites!

CONS:
The Public beach is much smaller than the pictures show. We were not bothered that it was public... there are often little kids over there, but they are very nice and don't bother you, unless you want to talk to them, which we did :) The pictures were deceiving as it relates to the size of the beach. We still loved going over there for a swim.

The AC in the rooms turn off when you leave the room, so it gets muggy in the room when you're gone and takes a little while to cool off, never getting exactly COLD.

The room and bathroom, are much smaller than I expected, and could use an update.

We paid for the most expensive room, which was still much less than the other Jamaica resorts, but our room was supposed to come with a refrigerator stocked with sodas, water and beer. Our room did not have a fridge and when we inquired, we were told "some of those rooms come with a fridge, some don't". That obviously makes NO sense. They can't offer a level of room where the amenities are different. They had probably given our fridge to another room. They told us they'd give us one when it came available. We never got one.

Our friends had arranged for a surprise candlelight, private dinner for us as a wedding gift. One day, we got to our room and had a message from a friend telling us that there should be a dinner surprise for us. This was our third to last day. The staff had not mentioned this dinner gift so we spoke to the front desk and they acted as if they didn't know what we were talking about until they checked the calendar and came back and said "oh yes, it's there, when would you like to have it?" We already had plans for the rest of our trip and would not have known about the dinner had we not received that message from our friend. We would've left and never received it. So we rearranged our schedules and had the dinner that night. It was nice enough, but not worth the money our friend paid. Come to find out, we got home and our friend told us he had SENT IN THE MAIL a nice note explaining the dinner to us which the staff was supposed to have given us at CHECK IN so that we could plan the dinner for any night during the trip! They didn't give us anything. In addition, our friend had requested we have the candlelight dinner at the other resort so that we could be on the water-- this obviously didn't happen. That was very disappointing. Our friend paid a good chunk of money and planned a really special surprise for us, and it was handled very poorly; actually, not at all. A resort such as Sandals should've been able to appropriately deliver this surprise gift.

In closing, if you're looking for the typically huge, crowded, busy resort, Sandals Inn is not for you. You should try Montego Bay or Royal. But if you're looking for a modest, intimate place where you can enjoy a relaxing and quiet time and meet other couples and staff, Sandals Inn is great. Plus, you can jump on a shuttle to the others and enjoy their restaurants anytime. We really enjoyed our time, just be warned of the above CONS. Oh yeah.. and the proximity to the airport is very nice! It takes only five minutes to get there! The other Sandals, such as Ocho Rios or Negril are much further, we thought of that as a major CON for them.

“So sad leaving......”

My husband and I just spent our first yr anniversary at Sandals Inn. Prior to our stay, I read daily reviews that were posted everyday to get every detail on this hotel. I was a little nervous as some people posted horrible stuff about the Inn but figured I would find out myself as soon as we got there.....
The Inn was everything and more once we checked in. We soon feel in love with Jamaica and made so many friends that we were sad to leave the hotel. The room was nice and clean, the food at this hotel was fabulous!!!! Breakfast was served in your bedroom if requested nice and hot in the morning, the best thing at the 24 hr grill was the beef patties! OUR FAVORITE! It didnt feel like a hotel, it was like our cozy little home. The garden was beautiful, the pool was nice and warm. We loved all the bartenders especially Wolfe who was the most warming, Omar and Johnathon who would make Mike and I laugh while chatting around the bar with them. Meeks, Roy and Narda who planned all the activites and made sure we had fun if we were hanging out by the pool (pool volleyball, karaoke, name that tune ect ect), Miss Latoya who I bothered with hundredes of questions while she booked our tours and dinner reservations, Kevin the gardner who really touched me with his sincerity and genuine spirit while he gave me aloe vera to help with my mosquito bites! I enjoyed peaking too him. Lisa the assistant manager and Dorreen office manager who took the time to investigate any matter that I inquired about; not to mention just to stop and talk to us on what we had planned for the day! Cheryl Brown the hotel manager who was so sweet and I got the opportunity to meet towards the end of my stay. Kevin who is also in management, took the time to also chat with us about how our stay was and if there were any improvements they could make, there is too many too name but point blank, you would be crazy not to stay here! Its a family and a feeling that is undescribable. We are planning to go back asap!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Relaxing and enjoyable- OK experience”

Sandals Inn

We just returned from Sandals Inn from June 30-July 5 and would consider this experience relaxing and enjoyable. I did read some of the other review before traveling and knew what to expect (somewhat). While the Inn is very small, it hosts as a very intimate environment and all the staff gets to know you very well. They are very nice and welcoming. The Inn is a much small environment than the other resorts with very little entertainment. I considered this to be a big drawback. If you are looking for excitement, go to Royal Caribbean or Montego Bay resort. We stayed there most of the time, except for sleeping and lounging by the pool. There is only a public beach at the Inn. The private beach at the other resorts were awesome. We were able to do kayaking, hobie cats, snokeling and so much more. The food at the Inn was ok. Breakfast was very good but the service is very slow. Honestly, we never ate dinner at the Inn because we has such a huge selection at the other resorts. Make reservations for your meals at the other resorts- IT WAS GREAT!!! Latoya, at the Inn was so helpful in assisting us in planning our tours. We enjoyed the Dunns River Tour, Negril Tour, and the Canopy Tour. Well worth the trip.

We throughly enjoyed ourselves in Jamaica and our stay at the Inn was enjoyable. The staff made you feel like you were at home.

“Great Honeymoon”

Sandals Inn

My Husband and I Stayed at Sandals inn from June 27- July 3. We had the most amazing honeymoon ever. The Staff at the inn were awesome. They knew us by name within a hour of being there. We felt like we were at home.Jonathon, Wolfe, and Dacri, Were the best bartenders you could ask for, not only did they keep the drinks coming, but they told us a lot about Jamaican culture, and it was very interesting. Jonathan caught a crab so we could see it one night. These guys are willing to do whatever to put a smile on your face. The first night we were there I got bit up a lot by the bugs, so the next morning Kevin went into the garden and cut some aloe down so my husband could put it on my legs to stop the itching. Jack at nibbles is a entertainer, he is always cracking a joke. I never once thought the property was dirty seemed like every time I turned around someone was cleaning. The room service was great, out breakfast was still hot when it was delivered. House keeping did a excellent job, and it was very nice to come back at night and see some sort of towel art and flowers all over our bed. I honestly can say this was the best vacation that I have ever been on. I have never been treated so well in my life. It was very sad to leave. We are already planning on going back. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me mirissalynn24@yahoo.com When I read some of these reviews I was nervous about going but the inn was nothing to worry about. I LOVED IT
