My boyfriend and I stayed at the Beach House Villas for 5 days (April 19-23) and had an amazing time. I travel a lot for work and am a hotel snob. We got an excellent rate from hotels.com (about $180/night for the one bedroom villa). The villa was large and very very clean. The resort staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The place was beautiful and the beach was very clean. I've stayed in Montego Bay before where I was limited to staying to the resort's beach, but here you are free to walk up and down the "7 Miles". We stayed on the villa and didn't go very far. I highly recommend the jerk chicken and jerk pork at the Bourbon Beach House which is located 3 or 4 resorts away and you can walk there on the beach. The Bourbon Beach House also has great live reggae concerts. We ate breakfast at the resort, which was good and decently priced. We did walk to the local supermarket downtown, which was very overpriced ($110US) for 2 days worth of food, so you're better off eating out. The exchange rate on a good day was $70US/$1JA but that rate often went down to around $65/$66. Your best bet is to pay in $JA even though most places take $US. Our last night we went to Rick's and the sunsets were amazing. The drinks were good and priced well. We had dinner there as well, but it was something you can get at Friday's or any other American chain. Overall, great experience in Negril. The Beach House Villas were absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this resort.

What can I say, we rented the Penthouse for our honeymoon and it was the most relaxing, wonderful experience at Beach House Villas. Beautifully kept property, lush tropical gardens line the walkways, the most friendly staff I have every met anywhere-from Vinnette, fabulous accomodating manager, Rose our housekeeper, Kevin, Bijou, Joseph, Bullet, security and groundskeeping, or Terry our wonderful waitress to Dean, our driver he is great please call him on his cell at: 876-569-7459. You will be glad you called him. The staff is so friendly that you will feel so at home, you won't believe it. Also, nothing better than eating breakfast at Iries on the Beach, fruity french toast, WOW! or great American breakfast too!! Best is the view though!!! If you truly want to see Negril, do not stay at an all inclusive huge compound like resort. You will get 5 star treatment at the Beach House Villas and also be able to experience the real Jamaica, walk to town, snorkel, see all the sights you want without feeling so touristy. The Penthouse gives you the most gorgeous view of Negril - highest point on the beach - vistas of beauty on the beach!!! The property and room was gorgeous. The pictures on the web don't do it justice. I will be putting mine up as soon as I develop. My husband and I were so sad to leave, Best time of our life together!!! We cannot wait to return and we would definitely be staying at the Beach House Villas again, where we have such wonderful memories of our honeymoon, the kind, friendly people in Jamaica, the beauty and color all around you...........!!! You know what they say about Jamaica....ONCE YOU GO - YOU KNOW!!!!.... THEY AREN'T KIDDING.......YA MON!!!!

“Our stay at the Beach House”

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Beach House Villa this March, and I can't tell you how much fun we had in Negril. We shared the 2nd floor of the villa with another couple and all four of us were really impressed. I'd have to say that the Beach House Villa may just be the nicest place in Negril...which was really surprising for the cost. It had a large balcony facing the sea where we watched amazing sunsets each night!
There was a bar and restaurant right next door, and the food was great...really convenient for drinks too!(we made good use of it...)
Negril Beach was beautiful...even the locals told us that Negril was one of the most beautiful places in Jamaica.
Besides the restaurant next door, there were a lot of them on the beach, which was very cool because we were able to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go during our trip.
We did take a taxi up to the market that was on the end of the beach, but that was only because we didn't weant to carry all of our groceries back. A guy staying in the Penthouse Villa above us had a zodiac and used it to give us a lift across the bay to the market to grab beers, which was definitely cooler than the taxi. But the taxis were cheap and you could catch them just about anywhere, so not a bad way to get around...
We did take a tour out to the countryside...we just asked the lady at the front desk to set it up for us and there was a van waiting to take us the next day. We went to a place called "YS" falls, which was really cool, but not as cool as the ride to the falls itself. It was definitely eye opeing to see the Jamaican countryside and all the people who lived there. We got a real sense of connection with the local way of life, and had a chance to try some local fruits...the mountain apples were incredible!
We had a great time on our trip and would definitely recommend going to Negril. When you do, stay at the Beach House..it was awesome!!! We'll be back again!!!

“Refreshing change from the all inclusives”

Beach House Villas

Mar 25, 2008
5/5 found this review helpful

My wife and I have been to many properties in Negril, including the all inclusives. While they are a great way for first timers to Negril to experience this gem of an island, they have begun to charge for what used to be included, and are really not the value they once were unless you eat and drink everything in sight.

The contrast of a small, beautiful property like Beach House Villas is so refreshing to us for the charm, privacy, and especially the value it ultimately provides.

We staying in the Penthouse, which is fantastic, with our parents in the Ocean Suite, which is also outstanding. You won't find this kind of view or size of accomodation at any of the chains.

We also had some friends staying in the garden suites at the property, which are large, clean, and well equipped, just a very short walk to the beach.

The staff is a standout at this property, with special mentions to Vannette in the front office, Bull and Buju doing whatever it takes to keep the grounds groomed and the guests happy, and Kevin providing polite and professional security. This team really has a true Jamaican spirit.

Transportation from the airport and around town is provided by "Jinx" in a very safe, reasonable, and comfortable manner.

Our opinion after 15 years in a row visiting Negril, is that the beach area around BHV is the best stretch of the 7 mile beach. The sunsets from that perspective are great, the water perfect and the sand wide and clean.

Nearby smaller properties, independant local operators of stores, restaurants, watersports, etc., offer what we feel is the True Jamaican Vibe. Walking distance to downtown also is a benefit.

For those who want nightlife and especially great reggae music, this is the part of Negril that has it very close by. Alfred's, Bourbon Beach, and the Jungle are all just a stumble or crawl home.

While not an all inclusive, everything you need is there, or can be easily arranged. The beauty for us that you only pay for what you really need and want, and it all seemed very reasonable.

As an advanced diver, I had many more options that I have ever experienced with the "super all inclusives", and all of it done on MY schedule. I went to sites that those chains will never take you to, even if they did know where they were!

The restaurant has a great view and also good quality and value, with Beverly's service and smile a standout. Having a full kitchen to do some of our own meals, especially breakfast, really adds to the personlized experience.

While great for middle aged couples like us and our elderly parents, it was also enjoyed by our younger friends with small children.

So if you are looking for a truly Jamaican, laid back beach experience that is personalized to your needs, this is the place.

We'll be returning next year, and hopefully for years to come.

“Got Bedbugs Here”

My husband and I got bedbugs at this hotel, and they have now infested our house. We are sure that we got them here - we now know all the warning signs (bites, the smell of our clothes, etc), but did not recognize them at the time. Jamaica was wonderful though. We would go back - and stay somewhere else!
