Our stay at Runaway Bay was not at good. First we got there and the rooms were not ready. Some of us did not get rooms until 7:00 pm that night. Computers went down so they had to walk to each room to see if they were clean and escort you to a room one by one. Then when we finally got in the rooms we did not have wash clothes, towels or anything . The entire time we were there we continue to ask housekeeping and front desk for towels and they would bring them at 9:00 pm yes I said 9:00 pm at night. One day we never got them at all after 3 calls to the front desk. I finally had to walk to the pool and get towels. And still we had no face clothes. Management said they were having problems with the new towel serve, I never been to a hotel that did not have enought towels to replace the dirty ones.... Food was good, entertainment was okay not the best. But due to the service with housekeeping I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I booked this for my husband and I for our honeymoon after we got married June 20th through the SuperClubs website, Super Surprise Package. I saved about 50%!!! I found out closer to the dates which one it was, and found out it was Breezes Runaway Bay.

After a long walk through Sangster Airport in Montego Bay, we got to the SuperClubs lounge, where we had cold fresh bottles of water for us to replenish ourselves after the trip through customs. After a short wait, we were escorted to our bus to take us to the resort.

The bus trip had several other couples going to other resorts, and the driver was FAST! I noticed he was going way over the speed limit (measured in Kilometers per Hour) but that didn't bother me much as I was eager to get to the hotel. After a quick drop off, the front desk and bell hop took care of us quickly.

We were welcomed with a cold towel and their feature drink "Cool Runnings". The bell hop escorted us to our room, which was a quick walk from the main lobby on the second floor.

Our room had a king size bed, flat screen TV, sofa, all the luxuries, and a balcony. The bathroom was interesting as well. I think they could have made the shower/tub a lot bigger with how it was set up. Our balcony overlooked the garden and Munasan (reservations needed).

The resort has three pools. The "deep" pool went from about 4 feet to 5 feet 9 inches deep, and had a volleyball net set up in the "shallow" end of the pool. We did not use this one at all during our 8 day/7 night stay. The Infiniti pool could be bigger, but it was very nice. One section it was very shallow, where you could have a lounge chair in the pool and still have your body almost above water. A fountain was located in the center of that section. The water from the shallow end went into the water in the "deep" end, which actually only went to about 2 to 2 1/2 feet deep. This section had a pool bar, which opened way too late at 10am, and closed way too early (around 6pm). The third pool is a "private" pool, which very few people used (IMO it was because it did not have a pool bar), and went up to four feet deep. We liked this pool, and snuck in a few topless swims (I believe you can go topless there, as several employees walked by us and did not say anything, and one time talked to a naked couple at their private plunge pool). Weddings happened near this pool, yet we kept somewhat out of the way as not to be captured in their video and photos.

The excursions are quite pricey, and if you plan on doing an excursion that involves the ocean, be warned that it may be canceled. We tried to book the Ocean Safari tour and it was canceled twice! Also the snorkeling was canceled a few times since the water was so choppy. We eventually did get a Hobie Cat ride, which was very refreshing and takes you out into water that goes 300 feet! You are required to wear life vests, so nonswimmers, or can-barely-swim individuals can rest easy!

There is a "Tropical Jungle" that has several hammocks in a somewhat secluded area, that we took advantage of one day and it was so peaceful there we fell asleep in the hammock.

I took a massage on the beach, which lasted an hour for $110 and was very refreshing. I had had a massage before, and I was sore the entire day afterward, however THIS massage was relaxing and refreshing and I had no pain afterwards. The girl (Clarissa if I remember it correctly) was excellent!

All in all, I will stay here again, however I would like to see a few things: Pool bars open earlier and stay open later; Pools stay open ALL night (perhaps have a "swim at your own risk" sign up); make someplace there clothing optional; They need a map of the resort; There was supposed to be a binder in our room, but we could not find it, which may be why we had no idea what numbers to call for voicemail or room service, etc. Also, on Thursday (a few days till we left!) we saw a HUGE cockroach ON our sink countertop! If I saw that earlier on I'd have requested another room pronto!

With checkout, they say to place your bags outside your room. You do not HAVE to do this, and I strongly recommend you just take your bags down to where the bus pulls up to take you to the airport. We waited for some time to see our bags come down and they never did. My husband had to go up and bring down our bags, as did several other guests at the resort.

If you are thinking of what to pack, girls pack your bikinis, as many as you want. Most of the time you will be wearing just that! Take one or two shirts/outfits if you want, but I spent 98% of my time in my bikini when I wasn't sleeping! More business casual attire is needed for Munasan or Pastafari (reservations required for only those restaurants).

Speaking of food and drink, FREE ALCOHOL! Try a Hummingbird! I loved that drink. They have "hamburgers", but they aren't as good as USA hamburgers. The Reggae Cafe is a decent place, but be patient as it took a while each time for us to get any service and them to take our orders. The Terrace has buffets for breakfast lunch and dinner, and are excellent choices. Don't do the breakfast room service unless you don't mind pastries, as that is all you will get (we did this and ended up going to the Terrace to get some food!).

I think I've babbled on enough, I DO like BRB and would recommend it to others. The staff were very friendly and helpful!

“The best vacation ever!”

Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club

5 of 5 stars
Pittsburgh, PA

We stayed at Breeze's Runaway Bay for 7 days in early June and could not have asked for a more perfect vacation! I was a little concerned after reading some negative reviews of the property but they couldn't have been further from the truth!

Our room as well as the property as a whole was very clean and well maintained. We had a second floor room by the spa which was nice because we had a view and didn't have to worry about anyone seeing into our room. We were a little disappointed that we didn't have a plunge pool but it was relaxing to sit on our balcony and listen to the waterfall from the plunge pool below.

The food was awesome and definitely not boring! Some reviews complained of the buffet serving the same food everyday but this was not the case. Breakfast was fairly standard but lunch and dinner were never the same. The buffet food was so good that we didn't even care to eat at the Italian or Japanese restaurants. We did eat at the Starlight Grill one night and it was wonderful!

The bars were always fully stocked and the bartenders are very knowledgeable. They knew how to make any drink that a guest requested! We never waited for service at the bar even when the bar was packed and our glasses never went empty while we were at the pool thanks to the bartenders constantly bringing us drinks. Also, the drinks were definitely not watered down! In addition, the swim up bar service was exceptional even when the bar was crowded.

There were always enough chairs at the pools and the huts alongside the pools were a great place to relax outside without being in the direct sun. It tends to be a little more difficult to get chairs and huts at the infinity pool early in the morning but there was never a problem at the larger pool by the terrace. The infinity pool area was less crowded in the early afternoon.

The beach was another great place to hang out. Although there is no drink service at the beach, there are two bars that are very close so you don't have to walk far to get a drink. There were two local residents who would hang out by the water and ask if you would like to buy seashells or pot but if you say "No thank you", they will leave you alone. After they asked the first day, they left us alone for the rest of our trip. Also, if you go to the beach at sunset, the resort photographers are there and will take pictures. The packages are a little pricey (there are several packages - we purchased the 5 for $55) but the pictures are well worth it! The sunsets are so beautiful and our pictures turned out so great that they almost look fake! Crazy J and Kevin (the photographers) are awesome at their jobs! The nice part about the pictures is that the photographers are constantly walking around and will take pictures and then you can go to the multi-media room and look at all of the pictures to pick and choose which ones (if any) you would like to buy. They will print them out for you there if you want or you can get them burned on a CD so you can make copies when you get home.

The entire staff was so friendly and helpful! We were impressed by how much they wanted to make our stay as fun and enjoyable as possible. They were very accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel at home. I had read several reviews in which people insisted that they had to tip to get good service but that was not what we experienced. Throughout the week, we saw various people try to tip the bartenders and they were very polite to the guests but seemed somewhat uncomfortable (sometimes almost offended) accepting the tip. We followed the no tipping policy and had exceptional service the whole trip.

We have traveled a lot and been on many vacations but this was by far the best place we have ever been. After staying at such a wonderful resort, we can't imagine going anywhere else! Which is why we are already planning our vacation to Breeze's for next year!

“Breezes Runaway Bay was so much more than we expected!!!”

My husband and I along with 2 other couples went to Breezes Runaway Bay for our 30 anniversaries. We booked through a travel agent and was really unsure about Jamaica. Boy, were we all pleasantly surprised!! The resort was so wonderful especially Sandra in guest relations. She took care of us and even called a few days to check on us and see if we needed anything. We loved Courtney, the fabulous bartender, that always made sure we had a drink or on the days I did not know what I wanted, he whipped up something delicious!! We stayed in a ocean view suite with a plunge pool that was awesome!! The rooms were huge with a shower with jets coming out of 2 sides!! Both rooms in the suite had flat screen plasma TVS that show American stations so my husband and his buddies got to watch Tiger Woods!! My husband and his 2 buddies golfed everyday. They thought the course was good. Not great but they had alot of fun each day and enjoyed their caddies. The pools were very clean, cool and we loved the swim up bar. The beach was gorgeous! And not crowded. The food at the buffet was just okay but what do expect from buffet. But the other 3 restaurants were fabulous. We ate at the Star LIght Grill one night for stiry fry, the Pastafari for Italian and the Musan for hibachi. All were fun!! Make your reservations for the last 2 a day ahead of time! I did water aerobics, worked out in the gym, did the power walk and the bicycle ride. There is always something going on at this resort!! Bands and games, too! We did the glass bottom boat, too. Also, the women did the shopping trip iinto Ocho Rios and that was fun, too! I do not think they have great snorkeling but that was okay with us. I would definitely recommend this resort and would definitely go back again!!
