I booked this for my husband and I for our honeymoon after we got married June 20th through the SuperClubs website, Super Surprise Package. I saved about 50%!!! I found out closer to the dates which one it was, and found out it was Breezes Runaway Bay.
After a long walk through Sangster Airport in Montego Bay, we got to the SuperClubs lounge, where we had cold fresh bottles of water for us to replenish ourselves after the trip through customs. After a short wait, we were escorted to our bus to take us to the resort.
The bus trip had several other couples going to other resorts, and the driver was FAST! I noticed he was going way over the speed limit (measured in Kilometers per Hour) but that didn't bother me much as I was eager to get to the hotel. After a quick drop off, the front desk and bell hop took care of us quickly.
We were welcomed with a cold towel and their feature drink "Cool Runnings". The bell hop escorted us to our room, which was a quick walk from the main lobby on the second floor.
Our room had a king size bed, flat screen TV, sofa, all the luxuries, and a balcony. The bathroom was interesting as well. I think they could have made the shower/tub a lot bigger with how it was set up. Our balcony overlooked the garden and Munasan (reservations needed).
The resort has three pools. The "deep" pool went from about 4 feet to 5 feet 9 inches deep, and had a volleyball net set up in the "shallow" end of the pool. We did not use this one at all during our 8 day/7 night stay. The Infiniti pool could be bigger, but it was very nice. One section it was very shallow, where you could have a lounge chair in the pool and still have your body almost above water. A fountain was located in the center of that section. The water from the shallow end went into the water in the "deep" end, which actually only went to about 2 to 2 1/2 feet deep. This section had a pool bar, which opened way too late at 10am, and closed way too early (around 6pm). The third pool is a "private" pool, which very few people used (IMO it was because it did not have a pool bar), and went up to four feet deep. We liked this pool, and snuck in a few topless swims (I believe you can go topless there, as several employees walked by us and did not say anything, and one time talked to a naked couple at their private plunge pool). Weddings happened near this pool, yet we kept somewhat out of the way as not to be captured in their video and photos.
The excursions are quite pricey, and if you plan on doing an excursion that involves the ocean, be warned that it may be canceled. We tried to book the Ocean Safari tour and it was canceled twice! Also the snorkeling was canceled a few times since the water was so choppy. We eventually did get a Hobie Cat ride, which was very refreshing and takes you out into water that goes 300 feet! You are required to wear life vests, so nonswimmers, or can-barely-swim individuals can rest easy!
There is a "Tropical Jungle" that has several hammocks in a somewhat secluded area, that we took advantage of one day and it was so peaceful there we fell asleep in the hammock.
I took a massage on the beach, which lasted an hour for $110 and was very refreshing. I had had a massage before, and I was sore the entire day afterward, however THIS massage was relaxing and refreshing and I had no pain afterwards. The girl (Clarissa if I remember it correctly) was excellent!
All in all, I will stay here again, however I would like to see a few things: Pool bars open earlier and stay open later; Pools stay open ALL night (perhaps have a "swim at your own risk" sign up); make someplace there clothing optional; They need a map of the resort; There was supposed to be a binder in our room, but we could not find it, which may be why we had no idea what numbers to call for voicemail or room service, etc. Also, on Thursday (a few days till we left!) we saw a HUGE cockroach ON our sink countertop! If I saw that earlier on I'd have requested another room pronto!
With checkout, they say to place your bags outside your room. You do not HAVE to do this, and I strongly recommend you just take your bags down to where the bus pulls up to take you to the airport. We waited for some time to see our bags come down and they never did. My husband had to go up and bring down our bags, as did several other guests at the resort.
If you are thinking of what to pack, girls pack your bikinis, as many as you want. Most of the time you will be wearing just that! Take one or two shirts/outfits if you want, but I spent 98% of my time in my bikini when I wasn't sleeping! More business casual attire is needed for Munasan or Pastafari (reservations required for only those restaurants).
Speaking of food and drink, FREE ALCOHOL! Try a Hummingbird! I loved that drink. They have "hamburgers", but they aren't as good as USA hamburgers. The Reggae Cafe is a decent place, but be patient as it took a while each time for us to get any service and them to take our orders. The Terrace has buffets for breakfast lunch and dinner, and are excellent choices. Don't do the breakfast room service unless you don't mind pastries, as that is all you will get (we did this and ended up going to the Terrace to get some food!).
I think I've babbled on enough, I DO like BRB and would recommend it to others. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
