We spent five nights at the Sheraton Old San Juan in late May. We especially enjoyed its location, covenient to all the sights and sounds of the Old San Juan area. We found the personnel in the hotel to be friendly and hard-working. We had only to ask and our needs would be met. Our suite had a wonderful view of the cruise harbor area, directly across from Pier 2 which is a modernistic steel structure. The furniture in the suite was old and almost shabby, the rugs throughout the hotel are in desperate need of replacement, stained and poorly maintained.
The casino was crowded with locals every night. Kind of surprising since the slots were pretty "tight." Nearby to the hotel are two restaurants which we would recommend highly. The Old Harbor brewpub, inexpensive with great made-on-premises beers, especially their stout. Their food was simple but plentiful and good. The other restaurant, Panza, is pricey but superb. Sort of a Continental-Caribbean place, beautifully decorated and with very attentive service.
