“A secret slice of Paradice at BBC!”

I have owned on St. Thomas at an upscale resort for approximatey 4-5 years. I became aware of the BBC and beautiful "Limetree Beach" at BBC , for its seclusion and excellent snorkeling, including new Villa accomodations, from a friend. I stayed for 2 consecutive weeks in July 06, rather than staying one week at my more upscale resort. I will never go back to my other resort! Bluebeard's Beach Club is on prime property, very secluded, has unbelievable views, including views of the cruise ships coming and departing, beautiful sunsets, and has one of the best beaches for "snorkeling" around the point. It is presently undergoing many updates in ammenities and accomodations, and will soon have the Wyndam name! It is sad to read the reviews of some people who do not obviously see the potential in this property and have the knowledge as to what upgrades are going on. Just ask! There are many ways to read about what is going on. Many websites you can access inform you, for example, if the pool is being painted or cleaned, and what upgrades are in process. You can also contact the resort directly to ask as well. This quaint , Island resort , has beautiful palm trees , cabana huts, many hammocks, outdoor B-B-Que ammenities, air conditioning, massages, water sports, and ocean views from every Villa. If you desire, the 3rd floor Villa Units are all 1 bedroom Loft Units. Building A and B are the older units, but are the closest to the roar of the beach! Building C and further villas are the newerer or updated Villas! The swim up pool where you can lounge and eat lunch and order beverages is a nice way to cool off from the heat of the sand and surf! The pool was just re-done and that is why many have complained, because it was closed for painting and upgrades! IAlso the restaurant. It is now beautiful! Please remember this is an Island in the West Indies and the people function on "Island Time." Isn't that why we all go? To Lime/relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The culture and Island time is something many visitors do not understand. But there is a signifianct "cultural diversity" and people need to know and expect that. BBC is close to Downtown Havensite and Charlotte, and many Island secrets. Iggies and Mimm's are right around the corner down Donkey Hill and are great eats!. Red Hook is a short distance away where you can catch the ferry for a quick 10-15 minute water taxi to the Island of ST. John or a trip to the British Virgin Islands! Navigating the Island is easy, especially if you follow the colored Starfish! You also drive on the left side of the road. Getting a rental car is definately recommended! There is so much to do and see! All the beaches are public at any resort so if you tire of the Beautiful "Limetree Beach at BBC", just get in your car or taxi and visit other resorts' beaches. Anyone who owns at the Beach Club have a little slice of heaven! I hope one day I will belong to that Club as well. Go, relax, have a great time and remember, life is too short to complain about things that really are insignificant, especially on a vacation! Bluebeards Beach Club may be described right now by some as a diamond in the rough! But to me, it is secluded , has darling Villa's, cabanas and huts, and is the true resort you would wish to find on any Island! It should be on the cover of a magazine! (and just so you know, I am typically a person who would stay at the Ritz Carlton!" I much prefer BBC!

Stayed here two weeks and absolutely enjoyed it, I have read others reviews from here and usually laugh. Yes, this is not the hilton nor the ritz, If you need Tea towels or your nose wiped keep driving PLEASE! We stay in building "a" studio #208 unit was great, a/c worked fine had a little rust on the side of it OH WELL, didnt ruin my vacation, Customer service was great recieved towels when requested, wake up calls, messages, ect..room was made when asked and by friendly staff, was also greeted with flowers and sparkling cider! Also security was always around and always gave us a friendly wave.Remember this is Island Time. As for the beach, could not ask for better, usually only six to ten people on the beach, most of the time less! Snorkeling is great around the west rocks, beautiful coral, fish, barracuda, squid, trunk fish.Took an excursion to the british virgin islands aboard "Breakaway", highly reccomend this trip.If your looking for a place to stay and relax on the beach or the pool, this is it. Rental car is a good idea if you want to get around alot, the units have small kitchens so you can stock up a few groceries if you want to cook. Good eats are "Iggy's" , "Mims" and "Glady's". Also Iggys has a carribean night on wednesdays "fun"... Ferry to St john is great too, if its your first time on the islands, see Trunk bay. If you want a nice room, great beach, this is it just, dont expect to be waited on hand and foot, those people are requested to stay elsewhere. He He,

“Great Beach, Terrible Service, No One Knows Anything!”

This resort has a great beach! It is private and beautiful. You see boats passing by frequently between St. John and St. Thomas. If you are expecting to snorkle on this beach, you will be disappointed. There is not much sealife here (you need to go to the other side of the island, e.g., Coki Beach) and where there is some, you will see reminents of some piping sticking out of the ocean floor.

The resort unit was nice. However, if you are looking to use and oven, forget it. There is none -- only a range top, a microwave and a frig. No dishwashing machine either.

The grounds of the place are not very well kept up. The tennis courts are unusable. Some of the buildings have hurricane damage from 1995 that is yet to be repaired. TO TOP IT OFF, the pool, resturant and bar were all shut down for "repairs." Interestingly, the pool was filled back up by Wednesday and guests were not allowed to use it!

Here's the WORST PART - The staff are gererally not friendly or helpful. They seemed somewhat perturbed if you asked a question! Their favorite response is "I Don't Know" This is to questions such as - Where I can buy some beer? Where is the closest bar? How can I access the room internet? How can I access my phone messages? Can we use the BBQs on the grounds? One day, a resort staffer left me a phone message that was unintelligible. I called to ask about the message contents, no one knew who left it or why!

The ONLY person at the resort who was nice to deal with was Kimbro, the marketing director. Of course, she was in charge of trying to sell us more timeshare points.

The people of St. Thomas were not very friendly or helpful generally. If you ask a question of a native, you will generally get the "I don't know" response and the person will seem irriated.

Despite this, we did have a good time at the beach, on St. John, at Coki Beach, at Corral World and on a sunset cruise (Saphire Cruises). On a positive note, the people at Saphire were great, people on St. John were more friendly. If I went back to the USVI I would stay on St. John.

My recommendation - Don't go to this resort or to St. Thomas. Go to Hawaii -- The people are nicer, the mountains are prettier, the snorklying better, and food is cheaper!

“make it what you want”

The first thing that I want people to know/see, which is not directly associated with the club, is about the taxi driver MR. NICE GUY. DO NOT USE this driver! He tries to monopolize the Beach Club's guests, and he is a RIP OFF!!! He will overcharge! This is just a warning, so you don't get ripped off like we did.

Other than being riped off at the very end of our trip by this taxi driver, we had a nice time. Unfortunately while we were there, the pool, bar and restaurant were closed. Needless to say this was a shock, but we dealt with it. We went to the grocery store and the rooms were accomodating for cooking meals and making our own drinks. While some parts of the club needed some repair, the rooms had good air-conditioning, were clean and had everything we needed.
The beach at Bluebeard's is GREAT! The beach is clean, water is warm and it is in a good location. We spent a lot of time there (espeically with the pool closed). Also, the day trip organized through the resort to St. John's was worth our time and money.
My advise...it is the islands, things are different and go at slower pace than the States. Don't expect it to be like home. You make your vacation what you want it to be. Enjoy what you have and make the most of it.

“Could Be Better!”

We went on vacation with our two teenage daughters. It probably would have been a better vacation with just my husband and me. Reason? If you don't have a rental car, cabs charge per person. Depending on where you are going it's $5-$10 per person one way. We didn't get to do some activities because a $60 activity was $100 after cab fare. BE FOREWARNED...until the end of June everything is closed at the resort. We were not told the resort would be shut down...no pool, no gift shop, no restaurant, no bar, no watersports. Bring plenty of water and snacks if you arrive before Sunday. If you don't have a rental car, Sunday afternoon will be your only opportunity to go to the grocery store. A shuttle from the resort costs $12, a taxi costs $10. A shuttle does take guests a few times to the Elysian which has wonderful restaurants and bars. The Elysian pool is nice too with a little hide-a-way grotto. I have to say, the beach at Bluebeard's is much, much better. We loved the secluded-ness and unobstructed view.

This place will be much better once they get a better staff and restaurant owner...and fix the tennis court, etc. The value will probably skyrocket in the future. If it had the amenities of the Elysian, it would outrival the Elysian as a better place to stay.
