Sorry it’s taken me so long to post my review. I relied heavily on trip advisor when booking my week in PV so I feel I owe it to Trip Advisor to post a real review. Remember that this hotel is a 3.5 Star not a 5 Star like some people expected.
What I loved:
LOCATION!! This hotel is a must if you’re going to be spending a lot of time downtown and in the clubs!!
It’s a 5 minute walk to the Malecon or a $4 taxi ride. One night my friend and I took a cab to the club instead of walking and I think walking is faster!!
A taxi to the Marina area (Christines and Collage are around here as well) will cost you about $5 - $7. Quick 5 minute drive.
Breakfast!! Made to Order Omlets are a must!! I think I had one every morning!! My friend loved the French Toast w/ Chocolate. Fresh Fruit w/ every meal! They serve breakfast till Noon which worked out well for me!! You can sleep in and still make it to breakfast.
Lunch was good too. They have a simple menu of Sandwiches, Nachos, Taco, Burgers. Good Mid-day snacking.
Dinner – Make sure to book as many restaurant dinners as you can!! When you’re all inclusive the restaurant dinners are a good deal. The Buffet was hit and miss. Some nights were great, others not so much.
Staff is great!! I miss you Pedro!!
Room Service – During the day it’s great, but during low-season they do not offer 11pm-6am service If you get hungry they make sandwiches and leave them at the front desk for the late night munchers.
Booze – One word, Endless. Sorry two words, STRONG and ENDLESS!! Their drinks are always super strong and I never had a problem with the types of liquor. Some people have said you get the crappy liquor when you’re all inclusive, NOT TRUE!! You can have anything you want.
Rooms – Basic, clean. Our first room was horrible but I was ready for it from reading the reviews on here. The first room 1454 smelled musty/moldy. The smell made the room uncomfortable. When we walked down to reception they told us that they had rooms available but they were not cleaned yet so we had to come back the next day. Next day at 9am we checked in and they said wait till 2pm which we did and we were not let down!! We had a great room, 1232, two double beds (minus the ugly 80’s blankets!!) We had a mini fridge that was stocked daily. 4 beers 2 coke 2 diet coke 2 sprite and 4 waters. What more could you ask for? Big tv, wasn’t expecting that (a lot of good channels too!!)
Our room was always clean; I always left my stuff lying out, i.e. make-up, jewellery, purses, and money. Don’t worry, the maids are lovely and your stuff is not in danger. Make sure to tip well on your first night or two, sets the tone for the rest of the trip. Be good to the staff and they’ll be good to you. Fernanda at the front desk was awesome! Always helpful. Alvaro was helpful most of the time, some times he could care less.
The Pool – clean, nice temp. It was low-season when I went so I never had to worry about a towel or chair. The loungers in the pool are awesome if you’re not a swimmer. You can grab a drink and just hang out.
Nightly Entertainment – didn’t see much, I was usually getting ready to go out at that time. The guys – Alex and Julio who try to sell you tickets to go out can be helpful. We bought our Foam Party tickets from them, Alex tried to make a couple extra bucks off us but we met Julio who was way nicer. GIRLS – Don’t buy tickets for cover, girls usually get in free.
What I didn’t like so much…
The Beach, not swimmable. If you’re into laying on the beach and frolicking in the water go to Cancun. They rake the sand daily I think which makes it nice to walk around and stuff but it sucks that you can’t swim in front of your hotel. Sunsets are awesome though!! FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT BEACH VENDORS - Give me a break, you say No Gracias and they leave you alone, stop complaining.
No late-night room service sucks!!!
Concierge, Oh God… She never knew what I was talking about and I never knew what she was talking about. She speaks English but she’s just slow I think… Not in a mean way!!! You just have to tell her a few times and confirm a few more times to make sure everything works out okay. Fernanda at the front desk was super helpful, go to her with any questions.
Room 1454 – gross, don’t take it. I heard some people complaining about the rooms and beds and stuff but come on, it’s a 3.5 star hotel it’s not going to be like The Westin or The Sheraton.
Things to check out – Hilo, I fell in love with this club/bar. Small little club, plays Top 40 stuff. Drinks are the same as they are here in Vancouver. Coronas $5, Pina Colada $5. FOAM PARTY!! @ Collage - $35 cover and open bar!
Cheeky Monkey – Great view, $5 nachos!
Please msg me if you have any questions!
