This was a last minute booking which made me a little nervous at first but once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at how cute this hotel was compared to most of the hotels in the hotel zone. You really felt like you were in Mexico and not somewhere in the U.S. in a fancy hotel. All in all the service was "you get what you pay for". The food was actually not bad, always in the same room, buffet style so you tend to sit with the same people every evening or they come and find you. Enertainment is always as soon as the dinner is complete, so say by 8:00 pm which is a little early but then this resort basically shuts down at 10:00pm every evening / this is when the bar (one an only bar believe it or not with one server). The lineups for drinks start at 9pm every evening and everyone seems to order as many drinks as they can because they know they won't get a second chance - this part really annoyed us. The only thing you can do is head into town for a few drinks but then it gets pretty crazy in PV in the evenings, depending on what you are looking for. We felt quite safe walking from our resort right into downtown with no problems whatsoever - you can take bus as well but walking is good for you! Why this resort worked for us was because we were able to make friends with some people staying there as well and it takes off the edge because you do feel it when your resort shuts down so early. They had a carnival next door to the resort where we stayed so we went with another couple and we were quite happy we went. It is truly a local Mexican event and not really meant for us tourists but you almost felt invisible as the Mexicans were enjoying their families and not really noticing that we were there. We did get on the local buses quite a bit and ventured to Buccerias and Old PV and really enjoyed that. Our resort itself as we said was really cute to look at - the rooms were adequate and clean. We did have a flood in our room (I guess from toilet overflowing?) and they were good enough to give us another room immediately. No one was available to help us move our stuff (this was after a few drinks) so it would have been nice. But we managed. They have a snack bar down by the beach (not bad) where they also serve you drinks but this closes at 6pm. The animation group were pretty good as well - these young people work quite hard as they are expected to entertain all day (adults & children) and then they have to perform in the evenings in front of guests and they ussually have some kind of a bus that takes people who want to go to bars, etc... so their schedule is a little crazy. We went out in kayaks in the ocean one day with one of the girls from this group. I was a little nervous going with her as she was supposed to be our guide and I believe she told me she was like "18" so needless to say I did not feel safe when she said the "oceans are alive so beware" that kind of made me want to kayak back as fast as possible however I hung in there and am glad that I did (we were 4 of us). We loved the experience but I think once is enough -you can't really see the bottom of the ocean in the Pacific so that made me nervous. But we should try everything at least once. All in all I am not certain I would go back to Costa Club but never say never but so you know this is a great place if you want to be close the downtown PV so you can party. This place is not expensive but it is quaint and you will be taken care of until 10pm that is. Enjoy!!!!
