I visited Cancun with some friends from July 3rd through July 8th 2008. We stayed at the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun. I booked the package through Orbitz and took the regular room. After some talking with friends we decided to upgrade the room to the Beach Front Room("ocean view and large oversized patio"). I paid an additional $247.65 through Orbitz. I arrived at the hotel at 7:15pm Tuesday the 3rd I checked in and went to my hotel room with friends. Room was great except it wasn't what I paid for. The "large oversized patio" was 2 1/2 ft. wide. I went back down complained and they gave me a second room. They gave me the exact same room. I went back down and now it was 8:15pm and I still hadn't received what I paid for. I spoke to the supervisor and almost told him off. I paid extra money for an upgraded room with an "ocean front and a large oversized patio" and they gave me not once but twice a view of the pool and a small balcony. After an hour of arguing they finnally coughed up what I paid for. I came to one conclusion on this. They see a white person and see he upgraded the room so they still put you in the normal room and hold onto the good room for someone else willing to pay more money for it. Bad way to do business. This hotel is for couples or families or possibly retired people. THIS HOTEL IS NOT FOR PEOPLE IN THEIR 20'S. Security is very tight. If you meet someone and want to hangout in your room they won't let you. They are very restrictive on bringing outside food and drink into the hotel. I was highly offended one morning when I woke up and saw a letter under my door written in spanish and addressed to one of my hispanic friends even though the room was in my white name. They would bother you as early at 8am to clean your room whether you had the privacy sign on the door or not. One time we had to stay out on the patio while they cleaned our room. They would call you throughout the day and night. I went on vacation to get away from people bothering me. I felt like I was constantly being bothered while I was at the hotel. The prices at the hotel to do attractions were highly inflated compared to other deals in town. I don't understand how this hotel was given 4 Diamonds on a review.

Stayed here for our honeymoon in 2003. The Lobby is very pretty. the Room was Above Average.. the All Inclusive Food left something to be desired. After the 3rd day of eating the same food warmed up We started taking more trips into town.. Not within walking distance of all the party places.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 6/29-7/4. This was my third stay here( his first). It was my first time, however, in a master king suite. My main reason for booking this type of room was the jacuzzi on the patio. We arrived about an hour before check-in but our room was ready. The room was very nice and spacious, with a front room consisting of a couch, entertainment center with a flat screen TV, mini-bar and powder room. The bedroom had a king size bed, bathroom with double sinks and a tub. We did discover a problem with the hot tub not working when we finally returned to our room later that night(11pm). Maintenance was called and came right away and tried to fix it but being that it was late, I told them not to fuss and they said they would be back tomorrow. They did return(we were out) and when we got back it still wasn't working. At this point I called the front desk and explained the situation. We were immediately offered another room of the same type but it offered no privacy as it was on the ground floor, right next to the towel hut. They then offered me a free upgrade to the Governor's Suite, which also had the jacuzzi, which we took. That was the only problem we encountered with the hotel itself and it was handled quickly and efficiently. We ate the breakfast buffet a couple of times, have always enjoyed this. Wide variety of foods, you definitely don't leave there hungry. We did the dinner buffet on Italian night(only because we had an early excursion the next morning and didn't want to be out all night) and that was so-so. But what can you expect?
And this is not something the hotel can control but I found there to be alot of children this visit. I realize that the time of year, etc. that this was a possibility. My previous trips were in February and early May so I had not encountered this before. They do have an area in which the pool is more shallow, I believe 18 inches, which is considered the "kids pool" but for some reason those with small children, insisted on using the main pool. Now I have nothing against kids(did not however, bring mine this time), but I did find it mildly annoying that some of these families felt that thier children should have run of the area. Lesson learned, this time of year either bring the kids or stay at an adult only resort.
The beach has of course changed post-Wilma. I was worried that we would not be able to enjoy it. It has changed in size and there are some huge slabs of rocks, but we still went in the water. Each day there were red flags but some still swam. Hubby and I did venture out but the waves proved to be too much for me and I stuck to the pool. The beach is still beautiful to look at though!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. I would consider staying at a different hotel next time only for some variety!

“Amazing!!!!”

Four years back my family and I visited Cancun. We stayed in the Condesa then and it was great! When we heard about the hurricane that struck the Yucatan Peninsula we were worried that the Cancun area would not be as amazing when we returned!!! Well it was just as beautiful!!! First of all, we arrived at the Condesa a couple hours before proper check-in time and our room was ready. We went out to the gorgeous pool and the "cabana boys" as we call them were waiting on people (including us) hand and foot. The bar would make pretty much anything you wanted! The food at the condesa was average. But they definetely have good quesadillas, fries, and nachos! The hotel is so clean it is amazing. I have never seen people cleaning so much.... There were workers that were cleaning and scrubbing the leaves of plants with wash cloths!!! No lie. The hotel has a great spa as well as gift-shop and exercise room! The grounds are beautiful as they were four years ago! The pool was VERY clean. The best thing way to get around Cancun is to take the city bus. Which is the cheapest. It is about 65cents (us dollars per person).

There are many great restaurants in Cancun as well! If you do stay in the Condesa, make sure you visit the Omni for breakfast. It is just a short walk down the beach, past the Oasis. There you will find at the Omni, the amazing Pina Colada restaurant!! They have the best breakfast in Cancun I guarantee you!! There french toast is the best you will have in your whole life! As well as everything else they have. The prices are VERY reasonable!! They offer an all you can eat buffet for $15(usd)! Which includes however many orders of everything on their menu! We saw someone there who ordered five orders of french toast, three order of mexican eggs, and three omelets!! This proves it is all you can eat! Their delicous pastries and fresh fruits and juices are also included!!! Do not leave Cancun without trying this place it is amazing!! Also, the best Mexican place hands down in Cancun is Hacienda Sisal which is right in front of the Royal Sands Resort which is right next to Luxury Avenue. They have the best salsa and food available in Cancun! We tried lots of places! Also, they will offer you some to die for desserts. We had their bananas flambe. Your waiter makes it right in front of you. And flames it up!! It is so cool to see especially for the young kids! They seem to love the way it flames up!! It is served with ice cream as well!! My father who was traveling with us, who is sixety-five and who has had many desserts said it was the best thing he has every put in his mouth!!! It was that good!!! They have other desserts such as, strawberries flambe, cheesecake, chocolate cake, fried ice cream, and much much more! If you would like to request a waiter then I definetely suggest you request Freddy! He was amazing! This mexican restaurant is much better than the restaurant Las Margaritas found in the nearby La Isla Shopping Mall!
OBVIOUSLY, MY FAMILY LOVES CANCUN AND WOULD DEFINETELY GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Condesa from June 30 until July 7, 2008. This was our fifth visit. After reading some of the reviews prior to leaving we were concerned about the conditions of the beach. The beach is not as large as it used to be but there remains at least 30 yards of sand between the ocean and the entrance area from the hotel. There are many areas to enter the ocean without concern of rocks and plenty of room to walk as far as you would like, in either direction.
This is a class hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful on all occasions. One thing we have noticed in every visit to this hotel is the how friendly the other guests always are here. It has a family atmosphere and we have always been greeted with friendly smiles by staff and other guests as well.
I have included some pictures of the beach to help you see what it looks like.
