“Great service, good value!”

We booked several rooms for our group that attended a sports tournament in North Vancouver. The rates were reasonable and the service was excellent. The hotel management and staff attended to our needs and were very helpful in recommending places to visit, dinner locations and directions. The hotel has easy access to downtown Vancouver and North Vancouver. When you stay here, visit Giuseppe’s Deli up the street.

“One of the worst 'hotels' I've ever stay in.”

Best Western Exhibition Park Vancouver

Jun 19, 2008

Some of the other reviewers must have much lower standards than I do, because this place was awful. Starting with a small parking lot littered with garbage, rolls of carpet blocking the entrance (they appear to be renovating), a TINY lobby and worn out hall carpeting all inches from a busy street. The room was an average hotel room in size, but there was a small table and two hard chairs and no other furniture--no comfortable place to sit besides the bed. The little table had no power outlet near it so I had to balance my computer on the little refrigerator to charge it in the very unsafe-looking extension cord (not a power strip) stretched behind the TV. They offer HS internet through Tellus for $15 per night and it worked the night I arrived but not in the morning. I rebooted but no internet. I tried to call Tellus customer service but the hotel phone buzzed so loud I couldn't hear. When I called the front desk, they weren't helpful. They offer some sort of continental breakfast, but when I asked about fruit, the desk clerk said "Oh, we offer at least two kinds, apples and oranges or apples and bananas". Only frozen oatmeal and cold cereal. And when I asked for a suggestion for a real breakfast nearby, he couldn't help me.

Overall, a disaster of a business "hotel" (motel, really) and a poor value.

“Friendly staff, comfortable stay”

Best Western Exhibition Park Vancouver

We ended our rocky mountain drive by staying in Vancouver for the last
few days of our holiday. The hotel was easy to find by car and there were plenty of parking spaces available. The hotel itself is run by very friendly staff that are keen to help if you have any questions. The breakfast room is a little small, think we ended up sitting in the
sauna for one session because there wasn't enough room, but the blueberry bagels were great! The hotel room itself was large, airy and
very clean and we had a very comfortable stay.

The bus stopped outside the hotel to take you downtown, the journey took around 30 mins door to door. Through personal experience it is recommended that you pick up the bus when you go back to the hotel at the far end of Hasting Street, we broke through one of the side roads from Gastown and it was a little scary to say the least, but you soon learn from your initial mistake!

    • Liked — Friendly staff and great value for money
    • Disliked — Distance from downtown

“Not a bad neighborhood”

I just wanted to make one thing clear regarding previous reviews: there is nothing wrong with the neighborhood of the hotel itself. It is true that between downtown and the hotel there are these several nasty blocks of Hastings Street with all the bums and stuff. But it should also be understood that these nasty blocks are right alongside downtown. That's just how Vancouver is. The moral is: never walk from the hotel to Downtown, take a bus instead.

Otherwise, the hotel is fine. Nothing fancy. Just a regular night-in, day-out place.

“Friendly Staff, Shabby Room”

We usually stay at the Holiday Inn when attending events at the Coliseum but decided to take advantage of the lower rate at the Best Western. Unfortunately, the condition of the room and lack of a secure place to store our laptop when out of the motel was disappointing. I understood that the rooms had been recently renovated, not. They may had been done 10 years ago, but with lack of up keep, are in poor shape. (The clock radio was disgusting). I had to store my laptop in the truck of my car because the staff didn't have access to the guest safe The staff was wonderful, the manager exceptional, he even offered my husband a tray to bring me breakfast in our room.
