“Cute hotel, cute neighborhood”

Anne Ma Soeur Anne

4 of 5 stars
Hartsdale, New York
Sep 12, 2007

Very nice small place in a fun, "young" area with lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. I booked a room with an outdoor terrace which was unfortunately too cold to really use even though it was only Columbus Day weekend. My only complaints about the room were that it smelled of cigarette smoke and the bed was not all that comfortable. Otherwise, they give you water, oj & croissant for breakfast. WIth the mini-fridge and coffee maker I was able to purchase tea-making supplies from the mini mart around the corner and had a great start to each day. I stayed here alone, and not once did I feel unsafe. I found the staff friendly and polite. If I were booking a trip to Montreal by myself again, I would definitely choose to stay here.

“Comfortable and perfect for the price!”

Anne Ma Soeur Anne

Sep 11, 2007

My friend and I were thrilled to find that our simple studio room was equipped with a kitchenette, small refrigerator, toaster oven, TV, and Murphy full bed. There was not much room when the Murphy was pulled down, but this did not bother us. The decor was simple (Ikea) and thoughtfully done-- nothing seems done to be cheap.

The help was very nice and they were willing to speak English to make us more comfortable. A young woman took us to our room, showed us the space, the amenities, and asked if we had any questions. It was very easy and open.

Anne Ma Soeur Anne is in a stellar location on St. Denis-- close to many restaurants and Mont-Royal metro station-- rather than the big tourist area near Vieux-Port and Downtown, which seemed to lack character like St. Laurent and St. Denis.

We loved the neighborhood and our room as young women. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and with a hair dryer. They give you complimentary croissants waiting, hanging on the handle, in the morning, perfect to toast while you make some coffee.

I would definitely stay there again and so I have it an "excellent" rating for its room, location, and service in relation to the price.

    • Liked — The kitchenette and location
    • Disliked — The lack of space-- but it was just a studio, and we could put up the Murphy bed if we needed more space.

“Good Bed and Breakfast style”

Anne Ma Soeur Anne

Aug 27, 2007

We enjoyed our stay at Anne MA. The only complaint if any was the bed was a bit small and the television was a 13 inch. Other than that the other reviews are right on the money. Good value and great room overall. The parking was $6 Canadian for 24 hours. Would stay again!

“Lovely Stay in a Great Area”

Anne Ma Soeur Anne

4 of 5 stars
San Francisco, California
Aug 9, 2007

Based on a few of the reviews here on Tripadvisor, I had a few doubts about Anne Ma Soeur Anne. However, my fears dissipated upon arrival. A friend & I were sharing a standard room (Room 28) with double bed & full bathroom for 2 nights at the end of July, 2007. The room was clean & comfortable, & had a view of the garden area. The T.V. had many channels in both French & English. The bathroom had plenty of hot water & towels, & the water pressure was good. The mini refrigerator had two complimentary bottles of water & orange juice each day. A bag of fresh croissants were hung on our door knob each morning. The staff was friendly & helpful in every way. The hotel is surrounded by cute boutique stores & plenty of restaurants/bars with outdoor terraces. It is within walking distance of Prince Arthur, Boulevard St. Laurent, & both the Mont Royal & Sherbrooke Metro stops. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Fantastic stay!”

Anne Ma Soeur Anne

Jul 6, 2007

We have just returned from a city trip holiday, and stayed here whilst in Montreal for two nights. It was so much better than we had expected, despite some rave reviews here, and we loved it.
We had splashed out on a suite (which was still cheaper than our ropey hotel room in Toronto), which gave us a fully equipped ensuite room each. We also had a sunny balcony, complete with hammock. We found the place spotless and the kitchens were well-equipped for basic cooking. Also, the staff could not do enough - looking up swimming pools for us on the internet, and advising on the easiest way to get around the city. There are loads of bars and restaurants to choose from locally, and a jazz bar below the hotel. The area seemed safe (we were female friends travelling together, so this was important) and friendly, with a metro stop very nearby. Chic shops all around too. Will stay there again, definitely!
