“Great place to stay”

The location was fantastic, very trendy area amongst very expensive shops. Loved the huge door to the building! We walked to all the sights easily, including the train station, which is how we arrived.

Huge room and nice bathroom, all very clean and tidy. Lovely common-area sitting room. Lots of character. Doreen was very friendly and helpful.

I have recommended this hotel to many friends and clients (I'm a travel agent) and would happily stay here again!

Chose Hotel Scoti from Lonely Planet. Have to admit that the Australian connection via Doreen was an initial attraction, which proved to be spot on as Doreen is a gem. So friendly and helpful, and could not do enough for us. We loved the location, a short walk from railway station, right in the centre of things, a short walk to Uffizzi, the Duomo, all our favourite cafes, the Ponte Veccio etc. We loved our room, it was comfortable and spacious, with a great view of rooftops, and very nice bathroom. Also a very quiet location even though in the centre of things. it was great being on the best fashion street in Florence, the shop windows were unbelievable! We mostly had breakfast out at Gilli on Piazza de la Republica, which was fun, but one morning had the special breakfast on a tray in the room, and it was lovely. Probably would have preferred to have a breakfast room, but as yet they dont have this facility. There is a lovely sitting room with the most beautiful frescoes. Nothing but praise for this great little hotel, and would / will definitely stay there again.

If you are just looking for a place to crash at night and take a shower in the morning and not pay much this is not a bad place to stay. However, on arrival Doreen was not particularly friendly and snapped at us for knocking on the door as I had not seen the buzzer but at once changed her tune when she realized we heard what she said. We were there for 3 or 4 nights and each time we walked through the main living area and passed her husband and said hello, Buon Giorno, anything to him...not once did we get a response from him. We began to feel like we were imposing company instead of paying customers! So all in all we didn't get warm fuzzies staying here and would look elsewhere if we returned to Florence.

We were extremely pleased with our stay with Doreen. We had room # 6, while our friends had room #7. Both rooms and baths were clean and fairly spacious, and the double beds were comfortable. Street noise was never a problem, although the numerous steps to the second floor (3rd floor in USA) can be challenging if you dislike the elevator. We
would very definitely return to Hotel Scoti.

A friend of mine who is a licensed tour guide in Florence recommended Hotel Scoti and we loved it. It's in a terrific neighborhood, close to all the big attractions and the price is very reasonable. The furnishings are simple but comfortable. The property is very clean and we had a large room with gorgeous new bathroom. The hotel serves a nice breakfast for a little extra. The owners are cheerful and helpful. Highly recommended!
