“Antonio was Wonderful!”

We three stayed with Antonio in Althea rooms for 2 nights in early May. We found the room to be very clean, well kept and comfortable. It is located on the south side of the river in the Oltrarno district, very convenient to Pitti palace, Boboli gardens, and away from the hustle bustle of the old downtown core. 10 minutes walk to cross the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and 5 from the Santo Spirito piazza where Sunday markets are concerned. Many restaurants at a reasonable price are located nearby, as are numerous craftsman shops. We found Antonio to be a very courteous and knowledgeable host. There were tourist guides we could use, and a few surprises that we appreciated, including a computer in our room. Respectable place with reasonable rates for the cradle of the Renaissance. Thank you again Antonio!

I very much enjoyed my stay at Althea Rooms, excellent location across the river but not too far to walk into the city center, very clean, separate room with computer in my single room, plenty of space and Antonio is a pleasure to deal with and very very helpful, he gives numerous tips and advise to make sure that your stay is a very enjoyable one too, I will definitely go back again.

“Great Place to Stay in Florence”

Althea Rooms is a small B&B just outside of the bustling centre of Florence. The location is near Santo Spirito and amongst many students and locals and outside the "tourist" comings and goings which made this stay wonderful. Plus, we ate at 3 restaurants in the area which served wonderful food and slightly less than in the city centre. It's only about 10 minutes to walk to the major sights and there is so much to see along the way as you walk the narrow streets. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. Antonio was great...helping us with recommendations and ensuring our stay was well taken care of. A nice addition in our room was a computer with Internet access which allowed us to check on train times and book some additional items in the coming days. Breakfast was around the corner as a cute little cafe and our server was there all three mornings and ensured we were well looked after and super friendly. All in all, this type of stay allowed us the independence we wanted and almost made us feel like we were locals living in the city for a few days.

“Best place to stay in Florence”

The B&B is well situated and the rooms are perfect (clean, internet connection, tv, king size beds, etc.), so, taking into account the low price, you have one of the best quality/relation balances in Florence.

However, the best characteristic of the Althea Rooms are Antonio and Maura, who managed the B&B. They’re extremely kind and will help you whatever the problem you have. I was in Florence for working reasons, and I have to say that their help save my life (and I’m not exaggerating).

I’ll come back to Althea Rooms when I get back to Florence.

Muchas gracias Antonio y Maura.

David

“Althea Rooms (Cross-Pollinate) Florence, Italy B&B”

Althea Rooms

5 of 5 stars

Apr 20, 2008

Althea Rooms was the perfect place to stay at in Florence. We were there for only one night, but wished we stayed for at least two nights.

The room was located on the first floor, large, and clean. A mini fridge, tv, computer with internet, mini safe were all very convenient to have. Breakfast was available, but we had to start our day early, so we didn't have the breakfast that was provided.

The room was very big for the two of us and could have accommodated 3 people since there was also a daybed besides the queen size bed. Restaurants, grocery stores, the Duomo, Uffizi, and Accademia were all within walking distance. We even walked from the train station to Althea Rooms. You can take the bus, but we felt like making the 20 minute walk.

The only negative was the shower curtain was a little short. This caused some water to leak out onto the floor. It wasn't a big deal and could easily be fixed if they had longer shower curtains.

Overall I would stay at Althea Rooms again.
