We stayed here for six days and enjoyed a comfortable, good-sized room. It was reasonably quiet and everything in the room was in good shape. We got the feeling, however, that the staff liked everything about their jobs except dealing with the customers. Several times we waited at the desk for two staffers to finish their chitchat before deigning to deal with us. More than several times, no one was at the front desk and we had to wait outside, the main hotel door locked, before the desk attendant came back and opened the door. This was not late at night, by the way, it was mid-day. The staff were all polite, but in a very correct and frosty way, and they seemed anxious that any discussions with guests should not extend one second longer than necessary. We took it in stride, as Holland is an easy place to get around in, and we didn't need their help so much anyway. Be aware that most of the restaurants in the nearby Leidesplein are over-priced tourist traps with mediocre food. Fortunately there is a great sandwich shop directly across the canal, and many other decent places a short walk away.
