“Wonderful place”

Hotel Piet Hein

Sep 2, 2008

After much research, we decided to stay at this hotel. We loved it. It is small, but clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet. Walking distance to everything - the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum (closed, but one part is open), Vondel Park, we even walked to the Anne Frank house, which everyone said was very far, but it was an easy walk. The room was clean, the bathroom clean, everything worked very well. A couple of blocks away is an amazing shopping street - Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and every designer you can think of. The hotel has free internet, a small lobby and bar, but the ambiance is relaxing and the surroundings are beautiful. Highly recommended.

“Loved the Piet Hein”

The Piet Hein is a great boutique hotel. It's within walking distance of the Van Gogh museum, the House of Bols, and other great museums, lounges and bars. It was also very close to bike rental shops. I was a bit disappointed by the size of my room and the single bed (apparently when you travel solo in Euope that's what you get) until I noticed the fabulous balcony it had with a great view of the park. The room was clean but bare bones. Divas seek shelter elsewhere. The bathroom was brand new and always clean. The hotel has a great little bar and a friendly bartender who serves up great cocktails and gives great advice about how to get around the city. I made it a point to have at least one drink at the bar every day.

“Excellent Hotel - Great Location”

My teenage daughter and I stayed at Hotel Piet Hein for 2 nights in July 2008. Our room was excellent: clean, plenty of room, wonderful bedding, big bay window with view of the park... Only problem was the 4-inch step leading into the bathroom! VERY DANGEROUS!! I did fall once, and thank goodness did not get hurt. That aside, everything was wonderful. EXCELLENT breakfast!! GREAT location - we could have walked everywhere, but we took the Canal Bus (fun and informative) to explore the city.
We had a delicious Indonesian dinner at the Orient (right around the corner). We were able to take an airport bus to the airport (it made regular stops at the hostel next door) for 8 euros!

“Wonderful stay at this hotel”

Hotel Piet Hein

My husband and I spent four nights here in July. We highly recommend this hotel to others who are looking for a moderate-priced hotel in Amsterdam. It is a short walk to the Van Gogh, the Rijksmuseum, Leidseplein, and the #5 tram. The rooms are clean and comfortable, a good breakfast buffet is included, Internet is free, and the ladies at the front desk are helpful and friendly.

“Great hotel, lovely staff”

Hotel Piet Hein

5 of 5 stars
Oxfordshire
Aug 4, 2008

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Piet Hein in February 2008 for a long weekend. We loved the Piet Hein - the room was gorgeous. It was big, the bed was huge and very comfortable, we had a great flat screen TV. The bathroom was great, and everything was spotlessly clean.

The breakfast was lovely, plenty of variety, great quality. The reception staff were very nice - they provided us with a map when we checked in, and marked the hotel location on it as well as some directions for us to get to various locations we might want to see. We later asked for restaurant recommendations, and we ended up in a fantastic place - I'm afraid I can't remember what it was called, but it was an excellent choice. They also helped us with the metro. The barman was also great, very friendly and chatty. There was free internet access in the lobby area.

On our last night, we were a little worse for wear (too much dutch beer!) and I had a terrible hangover the next morning. I called down to the reception and they let us check out a couple of hours late at no extra cost - which was very helpful. All in all, I loved the hotel, the staff were brilliant and I would absolutely stay there again if I went back to Amsterdam. As with most places, they really do love it if you make the effor to speak a bit of their language, even though everyone speaks English extremely well. Ask how to say please and thank you in Dutch - they were very patient with me when I kept repeating it back to check I had it right, and kept getting it wrong anyway. :)
