Stayed at the Rex Hotel for three nights in April and were very pleased. The staff was very friendly, the room was on the small size but comfortable. Also the breakfast was nice with lots of good things to choose.
The location it’s not very central, it’s a bit of a walk to the centre, but you have a metro stop very near so if you decide to use it, it takes only a few minutes to get to the main sites ( Gamla Stan, Sodermalm, etc )
Stockholm is a lovely city and we liked it a lot, particularly the Gmala Stan area with its narrow streets, beautiful architecture, nice restaurants and bars full of great ambiance.
Don’t miss the Vasa Museum ! It’s really something to be seen.
Would recommend this hotel and Stockholm with no doubt.

We had originally booked a room at Rex hotel, but got a larger room for the same price (about 100 €/night/room) at hotel Hellsten (same owner, across the street) instead. The location was good, within a walking distance from the city centre and old town. We loved the whole decor of the hotel, it had a really cozy atmosphere (Hotel Rex seemed to have similar decor, at least in the reception area). The room was spacious, and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was decorated with dark stone tiles, and looked very fancy, although it was a bit cramped.

The breakfast was good with quite a large selection. However, the breakfast room was very crowded and the staff couldn't really keep up, so most of the food ran out temporarily

We stayed in a double room for three nights over easter 2006. The hotel really was excellent. The whole building is very stylish, with a lot of nice features and attention to detail. Everything was very clean, the room big and comfortable, and even though it faced the street it was completely quiet as it is a back street. The staff were friendly and helpful - the receptionist who checked us in spent some time making sure that we knew our way around and gave us some excellent recommendations for things to do. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Guests have access to all the facilities of the more expensive Hellsten hotel across the street, including a bar and gym. Stockholm is an expensive city and you really cannot do better for your money than this.

Stayed for just one night, but will definitely go back on my next visit. It's a five minute walk north of the new town, but there is a tube stop 50m away should you require one. Great little touches include heated floor tiles in the bathroom. The outstanding service and exclusive feel, made the place perfect.
