My recent stay was a disaster with a filthy bathroom and unclean living area in the executive club room. On complaining I was moved to only a standard room but had to call the front desk again as there were no amenities and the power sockets in the room did not work, but I had to stay in that room overnight as the hotel was full. Apparently my problems were not the only ones, 3 other guests were checked into rooms which were unmade and one was also filthy. Finally, the next day, I was given a new clean room which happened to be a suite. This was obviously much better, but I would have preferred not to have gone through the awful experience in the first place!

We stayed one night at the Crowne Plaza and the room was awesome! The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the city centre - close and convenient. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. The private bathroom was large, with heated floors and complimentary robes. They also provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room with chocolates and bottled water. There is internet access and tv, though hardly any English channels except CNN. The room rate did not include breakfast, but the receptionist did say that we could purchase it for 22 euro each! Ridiculous! Not spending that much on breakfast - sorry. There are many cafes within walking distance -- croissants and coffee available close by. A good price for the quality -- I would stay here again.

I had to make a last minute business trip to Helsinki and rooms seemed to be filling up fast everywhere I looked, when one website turned up a room for the nights I needed at the Crowne Plaza. I snapped them up and was satisfied with my choice.

The hotel itself is perfectly located in my opinion: just a couple of tram stops from the centre of the city and across the road from a lovely open park and lake. The trams run frequently and are easy to use.

Upon arrival, however, I was ignored by the reception staff and when another customer walked straight up to the desk, the staff member decided to check them in when they should have been dealing with me. An easy oversight, once - but the same happened at check-out. Indeed, I got so tired waiting I ended up leaving my key on the counter and exiting. It's a silly thing - but it did leave a bad impression of the hotel on me, which in other respects was excellent.

The room was clean, of reasonable size and comfortable. The bathroom was also quite good, and well stocked with everything you could need - including some nice towels and a robe. My only negative was that some of the bedside tables seemed to be seriously watermarked from people spilling stuff on them. A small thing, but it made that part of my room look pretty scruffy.

I didn't dine in the hotel in the evenings, but the breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide selection of foods to suit all tastes. (I got a taste for the pickled herring!). The restaurant looked like it would be a nice place for a meal, however.

Another bonus was the free DSL connections in each room - something that should be standard in a hotel of this class, but many charge €20 a night for! The Crowne Plaza knows that it has a lot of business clients and this is something that is designed to please them - and I will admit, I was impressed. I think many hotels completely overcharge for internet access, and this made a refreshing change. Also a nice touch was a free bottle of water each day :)

All in all, everything was pretty much up to scratch. I was impressed, and will probably stay there again.

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night, booked an Executive Room with King Bed and Sofa-bed, was upgraded to Junior Suite as Priority Club Platinum and asking for a room with a view of the park.

The rate of €129 for three adults is excellent value (can probably only be found during weekdays during the vacation period) especially during Tuesday-Friday when breakfast is included in the Lounge. The added upgrade made the deal even sweeter!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was easily reachable from the Olympia ferry terminal by a direct tram line
