“Haunted?”

Trehellas House

Sep 3, 2008

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel for one night last Saturday following a wedding. When we got back we heard moaning as we climbed the stairs to our room (in the cottage) but thought nothing of it as v tired. We were shortly woken by more moaning noises and a mans voice saying "help me". My husband went to investigate the room below waking up the guests but nothing had disturbed them. Again we were woken at about 4am with "help me" and moaning noises. We asked the hotel manager the next day if anything like this had been reported before but apparently not! Apart from getting v little sleep it was a great hotel but we would be v interested to know if anyone else has had similar experiences!!! We are both scientists and so sceptical of ghost stories however with both of us hearing this loud and clear and with the light on we are becoming slightly more open minded! Not sure how to rate this experience so have opted for above average!

    • Liked — friendly and smart rooms with nice bathrooms
    • Disliked — lack of sleep due to strange voices in the night

“Great Place to Stay”

Trehellas House

Stayed at Trehellas Hotel for one night on the 29th August 2008 and is a lovely place to stay. Our room was in the annex and not the main house but more than suited our needs. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very polite and courtious and provided excellent service. The breakfast was very nice indeed but the evening meal we had was amazing. Would highly recommend the Rib Eye Steak !!!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Excellent Food & Staff Service
    • Disliked — Would like to have stayed in the main house which was really lovely from what we see

“Dog friendly and great cooking”

Stayed here for 1 night in the Coach House. Found it on Laterooms.Extremely friendly owners and one of the few places nowadays that a)allows dogs b)does not charge extra for them. The room was on the small side but the bathroom was large.Best of all was the restaurant where both dinner and breakfast were truly excellent as were the staff.Would not hesitate to return.

we stayed at the hotel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary
we asked for a superior room, which we were given in the coach house only to find at 6oclock each morning to wake up to the noise from the A389,not sure why they didnt fit double glazing to this room?. we asked to be moved but no other rooms were available. food was of a very high standard and the staff were very friendly, the setting at the back of the hotel very nice. But the room in the coach house is to be avoided . the room we had was very clean and very big, the bathroom was as big as the bedroom, the hotels position just outside Bodmin makes it ideal for getting to the north and south parts of cornwall.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — clean and tidy with all the mod cons
    • Disliked — the noise in our particular room.
    • Tips/Secrets: — as long as you stay in the main hotel you should be ok.
