“Exactly what we wanted”

Stayed in Foleys for the weekend with a gang of girls and it was exactly what we were looking for. Very central location, cheap and clean. Had lunch here, wide selection of food with prompt service. My tuna melt was mediocre, what the others had was fine though. Breakfast was fine also, nothing too spectacular, but freshly cooked and hot. The rooms were not huge, but big enough and were very clean. The walls are a bit thin so it was loud when people were coming home from the pub, but we were coming home at that time too, so it didn’t bother us.

There was one extremely unfriendly barman, tall, dark haired, couldn't place his accent. He was consistently rude to our entire group and didn't fit in with the Irish staff. Everyone else was extremely friendly and a proper example of traditional Irish hospitality.

My husband and I stumbled along Foley's after being told by the local tourist office that we would have to stay a good walk out of the town. Foley's is right in the middle of the town and is a lovely bar/restaurant/b and b
Our room was the nicest we stayed in on the whole tour of Kerry and Cork. Our room looked on the main street with beautiful window boxes. The room was clean and decorated tastefully.
We ended up in Foley's bar at the end of the night - also entertained by live music. Great atmosphere. Once we had enjoyed a few pints, we were able to creep upstairs to our room for a most comfortable nights rest.
Full Irish breakfast was served the next morning in the restaurant area. Staff very friendly. Make this a stop on your trip!

Went to Foley's, to expect what I saw on the site. Clean rooms, friendly staff, good hearty meal.My family and I did not enjoy our stay..food was mediocre. No better than any pub food you would find in Scotland. Rooms were clean. The staff were not friendly, not many smiles are grown here.Overpriced..by god yes..too much for the coin

“A great place for Guinness & seafood chowder”

Starting a trip around the beautiful Ring Of Kerry, we were advised by by our trusty b&b directory to pay Foley's Shamrock Hotel a visit. Although we had visions of slumber disturbed by hordes of inebriated Irishmen in the bar beneath our place of repose the book turned up trumps again. It was a beautifully appointed pub with subdued lighting, from candles no less, in the bar area. As it was mid-winter we chose comfort food from the menu and had lovely meals of Irish Stew and Seafood Chowder (in the case of the latter, I'm still searching for a recipe to match Foley's). One of the nicer things about the food was that it wasn't placed on our table 3 minutes after we ordered, but after a sufficient delay to indicate some preparation was occurring on the spot. My journal summary of our stopover reads, "Began the day with a very nice brekka and chat with Foley's waiter/receptionist, all of which helped instal the Shamrock near the top of our B&B hits list. In keeping with our experiences of the Irish to date, everyone was amazingly friendly, going to great lengths to be helpful."
