We recently spent a night here on a return trip to my home country. It was the one night my husband and I managed to get away on our own leaving our little ones with family to mind for the night. On arrival we were very pleased with our room although I had asked for a double room expecting a queen or king size room but instead we were placed in a room with 2 double beds which did actually seem quite short to my husband and I and believe me we are not outrageously tall! none the less, the room was pleasent with nice bathroom etc.
However the big disappointment came at breakfast time. On booking I was told that the E55 (euro) per person rate included a full Irish breakfast so my husband and I were really looking forward to it. Instead we were met by a very sulky unfriendly hostess (not an Irish person) who motioned to a table set up with 2 types of cereal, some warm milk and juice and and a bowl that contained a few pieces of fruit (the fruit bowl was not replaced whilst we were there). The waitress advised that breakfast included bacon, egg and sausage and of course we could have our eggs what ever way we wanted. I guess I just assumed that the breakfast would have black and white pudding and tomatoe as this is what I have always known a "Full Irish Breakfast" to contain. However this is not so, we got 2 tasteless sausages, 2 pieces of bacon and my poached eggs were so hard they could have bounced off the floor. We got a basket containing 2 slices of toast for 2 adults....now that is a bit mean in my opinion.....where was the soda bread. I must say it was a huge disappointment and had I known I would have just requested a room only rate and had breakfast out at the lovely Preago or Jam cafes. To be honest I feel 55 Euro was a bit much especially considering the breakfast. I contemplated raising this with the lady we paid on departure but her demeanour was equally sulky and unfriendly and I was in no mood for a confrontation on our only break away. I must say it was a big let down.
