The hotel was ok and staff were efficient. It is a typical chain hotel - little character. the rooms have all you would expect to have for the price. I was shocked when asked to pay for internet access. even the backpackers places were offering free internet access. The hotel was asking for 5-10 aus dollars - thought that was over the top. also hotel location is right over Kings Cross station. However Victoria Street is fine and can recommend Roy's for eating in!

I stayed 15 nights at this hotel for a business trip. I recommend that you do everything you can to get a harbour view room as, like a previous reviewer has written, the view is stunning and is a great way to wind down after a days work by drinking a cold beer looking at the view and watching the sun go down. Alternatively, sit in the bar and watch the Virgin Blue cabin crew checking in for a different kind of view! Facilities wise the hotel meets all the requirements and I found the staff very helpful for any question. It's ideally suited to get to the CBD and the shopping areas (20 minute walk or 5 min train journey to Martins Place an Town Hall (Kings Cross station is right next door). I will definitely stay here again should I return to Sydney.

Stayed here on the Ashes tour, Great hotel, had a fantastic time. Well situated, friendly staff and great food!!

We spent 2 nights (2-4 Dec) in one of the Grand View Queen rooms. You cannot put a price on the view of the Opera House/Bridge whilst sipping a drink in bed!!! The location of the hotel is about a 20 min walk into the parks and main attractions of Sydney. There are some good eateries along Darlinghurst Road. The train station is in front of the hotel. The room was well presented and kept very clean. The buffet breakfast was ample and a good start to the day. The staff on breakfast duty were amongst the friendliest we had come across during our stay and paid our young daughter alot of attention. This was our second time staying here, our first being several years ago whilst on the backpacker trail, we just needed to spoil ourselves with clean sheets back then! We did notice a difference between this hotel and the Old Sydney, particularly the staff overall, the 'Can Do' attitude and overall atmosphere was missing here. The hotel cannot be faulted but the Old Sydney is the one for us.
