My boyfriend and I stayed one night at the Vibe Hotel and I thought, for price and location, you can't beat it. They had just recently undergone a massive renovation and the rooms were modern and comfortable and included any amenity we could have asked for -- minus complimentary towels at the rooftop pool which was slightly annoying since we called down to housekeeping 3 times and were clearly ignored.

So basically, aside from lack of towels at the pool, out stay was comfortable and hassle free and exactly what we were looking for.

My husband and I stayed at The Vibe hotel during the final part of a month long trip to Australia.
We booked the hotel through Toga reservations and got a great discount from the rack rate.
The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly, as were the staff in the cafe/bar.
Our room was on the 3rd floor looking out over Goulburn Street. There was a little noise from the street but nothing that bothered us. The room was just the right size for the two of us and the bathroom had a powerful shower and big bath.
The location of the hotel is brilliant. Close to Central Station, Chinatown, Hyde Park and an easy walk into town. Plus the monorail and metro are close by if you don't fancy walking.

After reading several reviews on hotels in Sydney I finally decided to go with Vibe Hotel and was absolutely delighted with my stay there. The hotel was clean with colourful decor, contemporary and very tasteful, and the entire staff, from front desk to housekeeping always greeted you with a smile. I had some friends and family booked at Meriton World Towers and Hyatt at the Rocks (supposedly the most exclusive hotel in Sydney), and honestly, the service we received was so much better than these other two accommodations. The hotel is also located on a quieter main street, so you don't get much traffic noise, but the hustle and bustle is barely five minutes walk away, and we could also easily walk to Pitt St Mall, Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Surry Hills, and the Museum St subway station.

We arrived very early and the hotel stored our luggage for us, and had even transferred it up to our room by the time we got back from having some food and walking around. I booked a quad room with 1 king bed and 2 single beds, and it was very spacious, and the beds were comfortable. Even the bathrooms were large and spotless, cupboards huge, and our rooms were cleaned every day. I only wished there were more hangers in the closet, as well as more hooks in the bathroom to accommodate four people (there is certainly enough wall space for this) and my only major gripe is that internet is really expensive! I also didn't have much a view, but that really didn't bother me at all. Another friend booked a Master Suite and that room was MASSIVE and had a better view.

I didn't try the restaurant, so can't comment. I did peep at the pool and gym upstairs, which were small but really cute and seemed equipped well enough. Didn't use either facility.

Checkout was very fast. I did call for concierge to help bring our bags down, but we were in a hurry as our shuttle had arrived half an hour earlier than expected, so I didn't have the time to wait for them and lugged the luggage down via the lifts myself.

All in all, I was very satisfied with Vibe Hotel and will definitely stay here again. I also can't wait to check out another Vibe location and wish one would open up in Perth soon :)

The room is great and the rate is not good as well. But that is all I can say about positive aspects of the hotel. The 'classy' rooftop swimming pool is more like a giant bath tub, and when I was there, there was only one man sun tanning. Not surprisingly, as the water in the pool did not look well-maintained.
Vibe hotel is a business hotel for business people, but that was definitely not the impression I got. First of all, the internet was not working, and it takes on average 3 phone calls and 30 min before getting any of your requests attended to. The person who helped us with the internet has no basic knowledge about the internet...
When we checked out, we were billed A$40 for internet charges (we only used internet to syn up our email..). We thought that the wireless internet at the lounge was complimentary since the internet in our room was down, but we were told that that was impossible and were treated as freeloathers. When I requested to look at the internet log files (I am still holding onto the log file), I saw that we were charged A$20 for 8min of internet usage!! The manager on duty, Mr. Godwin Oparah, was not only unhelpful, but was very rude to us. He accused us of lying and argued with us for more than 10 min. We were catching our flight, so this last episode totally ruined whatever good impression we had of the hotel. To rate him and his staff's service and attitude, on a scale of 0 to 10, I would give them a low 1.5. Out of the 5 counter staff I spoke to, only one of them was polite and professional.
Would only recommend this hotel if you don't mind bad experience for the price and location.
