“Good for the price”

I used www.wotif.com to book and secured a reaosnable price of under A$100 for a Friday night.

The receptionist was friendly. The room was small with little spare room but quiet, though its 'view' was ununspiring. However as on my previous visits I slept like a log due to the absence of noise, which is my main requirement. The shower was adequate. I will return!

“Great location, very small room”

Metro Hotel on Pitt

Jan 22, 2008

It's a good thing we stayed for one night, before we left Sydney.
I knew the rooms were small since I had read the reviews, but it was amusing with all of our luggage in the room and no where to move.

We arrived around 11 a.m. and our room wasn't ready so they held our bags. When we arrived back after 2 p.m. they had already moved our bags to our room.

I was grossed out by the trash can in the bathroom (the only one) with some unknown substance (blood perhaps?) moved the lid and put it on the floor. I also noticed some makeup (not mine) on the wall between the sink and the toilet. The bed was tiny and not comfortable either.

Otherwise, everything else was fine for one night and it was a great location. The shower was large and had built-in dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. They also had shaving cream in a dispense by the sink.

On the day of checkout we had some extra time so we wandered around Sydney one last time and they held our bags for us.

Everyone was pleasant and the hotel seemed nice overall, but the room was small and not 100% clean.

“disappointing”

Ok, the location was great, only 5 mins walk from the Town Hall Station and easy to find, but the service was terrible and the room was small!
I checked in at noon and they said the room wasn't ready so i left my luggages with them. I went back there at 2 and they just threw me the key and said room's ready, you can go now. And i showed them my luggage tag and they said you bags are in the room already. So i was ful of joy running to the room. I opened the door, the room was so dull and small, and the bags weren't in the room, so I called '9' for the receiption. I said 'Hi, I was just wondering.......' then she cut in and said 'yes 513, you bags are on the way, thank you'. Like...can't you just let me finish my sentance? So the bell boy came appox 5 mins later with bags, which weren't mine. I said well those aren't mine he said oh really, ARE YOU SURE. WHAT! You think I'm blind or what? I descriped the bags then he left. 5 mins later he actually CALLED me and said I can't find your bags can you come down and see which ones are yours. I said I can give you my tag number, he said it won't be useful just come down please. I told him i'm so tired and I can't be bothered going down. He actually said well i have no idea which bags are yours since there are so many of them here. Well, yeh, I went down and spot my bags right away. I can't believe that. What's the use of the tag then if you don't have a system to store bags! Goodness me!
The room looked dirty, i can see stains on the bed sheets (eww), the bathroom smells actually. The in room dining menu was a joke, it's just a printout from Microsoft Word, and stapled together. Couldn't bother going out for dinner that night so I ordered room service - scallops with asparagus and blah blah. They came up with my food, and took off the lid and i saw squid, but not scallops, and she was like...oh i didn't know, i'll go and change that for you now. turned out they've punched in the wrong order!
Don't even bother to try the breakfast, not much variety to choose from and don't taste good.

“Exactly what it says on the tin!”

Metro Hotel on Pitt

Nov 2007 - Needed to stay for one night in Sydney before travelling on so found the best rate for this hotel at hotel.com. Very pleased with location which was in the centre of Sydney near CBD. Staff were friendly and helpful whilst the room was nice and clean with plenty of amenties provided. Although the room was not overly huge it was more than adequate for our stay with a good sized bathroom. There was a view into the well of the hotel but then we did not book this hotel for the view!

As we arrived late we were not too hungry so found a Woolworth's (similar to Tesco in UK) where we bought ourselves some rolls and snacks whilst a little way along the road we found a bottle shop where you purchase beer/wine etc.

At this time (9pm) there were plenty of beggars to be found on the streets. However, there appeared to be just as many the next morning but this is not unique to this area. It is fascinating to find that often they are better dressed than you are!

In the morning turned right out of hotel and crossed the road to find a small, clean and effecient eatery called the Flame Grill where I had poached eggs on toast + coffee whilst my husband had scrambled eggs on toast + coffee - excellent and all for AUS$13.80!!

One word of warning:.......................... taxi drivers do not like short journeys so when we alighted from ferry at Circular Quay and asked taxi to take us to Metro on Pitt - we were told \9after we had begun our journey) that there was no such hotel and we were wrong only to find after driving around and the meter now showing over AUS$12.50 (should have been only around AUS$5) hey presto, here was the Metro on Pitt street! Not impressed at all with the arrogance and blatant rudeness of the driver.

Would recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again!

“very central”

THis hotel is only two blocks (5 minutes) from Darling Harbour and 4 blocks (10 minutes) from Circular Quay. Hyde park is one block and the skytrain is practically outside the door. The bedroom was a bit small but the ensuite makes up for this being quite large. We had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant which was reasonably priced but were disappointed with the breakfast, which was not good value for money. Across the street is Mona's cafe where you can get an all day breakfast for $7.00.
