We stayed in this hotel with family and children, in the lagoon-fronted rooms. The grounds are big and spacious, though it is a pity that there is only one, quite small, fresh water pool. It seems that during our stay every other guest preferred to spend time there leading to overcrowding. The walk to the beach is not long, though there was nothing outstanding about it, long and narrow, many couples having a walk.
Overall, it was a very boring stay and the children had nothing to do.

“Still Excellent”

A lot of reviewers in here bag this place. I just completed my fourth stay in 10 years and feel that it is still great. Ok it may not look classy to modern tastes but it is simply a beautiful location and the resort is a true resort. Each time I have stayed I have rented a villa much better as it is like living in a beautiful mansion in the carribean but you can pick and choose what you want from the resort. We quickly had a look at the hotel part and yes it is a bit dated but is being done up. The staff here are first class and the facilities are great I saw no broken bicycles or any other broken facility for that matter. They had even upgraded the sun lounges since my last stay to Dedon sunlounges which are $2000 each! Yes it was built over 20 years ago but the whole plcae is huge and still deluxe given the amenities and the choices available to fill your day. Food around pool and breakfast buffet were fine and what one would expect of a family oriented resort only complaint was the seafood buffet that was not that great but then a 5 minute cab ride and you have so many other choices in Port Douglas itself. I cant see why people bag this place it is as excellent as it was 10 years ago when I first visited and at least unlike other places at Port Douglas you have the space to just chill or the attractions to mingle should you wish.

“Good location, good people”

This property is expensive, and as far as look and amenities, I don't believe it's worth it, but the location is very convenient to many activities. There are lagoon pools thoroughout the property, I stayed in a lagoon suite and was able to just jump in from my room at my leisure. This was very relaxing and one of the reasons I chose this property. Front desk personnell was helpful and welcoming. The food at the hotel is expensive and the quality is just okay. The servings will leave you hungry. Good to grab some snacks from stores in city centre and stock in your room. The breakfast selection is limited, but does it's job I suppose. There are buses that take you to the city centre, but it may be better to have a rental car. It can become exhausting planning around public transportation. The rooms were clean, wood and tropical decor, but felt a little old. And although, I had a suite, I felt it was a little small for much movement.

“Great base for Far North Queensland adventures”

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Hotel

My family and I went there recently and we would definitely go back because of the location, people, and great pools. I can't really comment on the prices/value, because we stayed with points and didn't eat at the hotel at all, but it is an ideal location for all kinds of activities: rainforest, reef, tablelands, Queensland outback, etc. here are buses that regularly run between the hotel and downtown Port Douglas, which makes it easy to check out the town. The rooms were nice, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and we loved the salt water pools.

“The Best!”

LOCATION:
Very convenient location. Built behind the 4 Mile Beach. Approx 20min walk to town and 15min walk to the marina.

ROOMS:
We stayed at the lagoon view room and if we wanted to we could just jump out of our balcony into the lagoon pool

SERVICE:
The staff were helpful and professional

FOOD:
Expensive

This hotel is 5-star because it deserves to be. It is not cheap and my husband and I managed to stay there because my very generous Mum-in-law surprised us with this as a birthday present (thanks, Mum!). If we had the money, yes we would go back.
