My daughter and I returned last Saturday having spent a week in this hotel. We arrived early expecting to have our bags stored away til our room was ready however the lovely receptionist advised us that a room was ready so we were able to go straight up!

Room was small but this suited us (being only my daughter & myself). Room was clean as was bathroom so no complaints from us in this area.

We both enjoyed the continental breakfasts that were included in the package deal that we got. My daughter loved having the bacon every morning (she dosent get to do this at home) and I enjoyed the home made muesli!

Concierge(sp) whom I think was called Jarrod was always very helpful when we asked about local attractions. The location of this hotel was fantastic for us. Close to everything.

We asked for a late check out which was agreed to which was great for us as it let us finish off our last minute packing.

My daughter and I had no complaints regarding this hotel or its staff who we found to be helpful & pleasant at all times.

I believe there are worse hotels than this one…..but not many. Long story short….it is a dump. The rooms are tiny, filthy, noisy & smell.

I have, sadly, stayed here on a number of occasions when travelling to Melbourne on business…but only as a last resort, when all other hotels in the CBD were full…if fact I’ve actually cancelled travel arrangements when the Welcome has been the only accommodation available simply because I couldn’t face stay there ..it is truly, truly awful…..and I have to say by and large the staff are well suited to the property…..

Stay here is you must, but be warned…..

For the amount we paid, it was definately value for money and comes with breakfast that was ok. The location is very near shopping areas and also tourist info centre and also the day trip pickup point. Will book the same hotel if ever coming back for holiday.

Unbelievable noise levels in room & corridors all night and early in the mornings. Moved to this room after drunken party next door and asked to be moved. Avoid Room 1228 & any rooms around it like the plague. Trolley noise at night and in the morning, turns out room also next to janitors room!!
Noise at night screaming a fight I think? Nope drunks.
Lifts broken down, at least one was out at any one time. Marked walls and generally smelly room, towels also smelt funny.
Marks on the carpets and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. Each night non English speaking guests were left outside the secure glass front doors unaware they could swipe their cards to gain access, night staff thought this was a joke and bet on how long it would take for them to figure it out.
Room wasn’t cleaned, dirty handkerchiefs and tissues on floor.
Night manager and response from Mecure to complaints was totally as you'd expect.....as good as their rooms. The email traffic between us and Mecure is an interesting read.
