We arrived in Melbourne about 8pm and the taxi driver hadn't heard of the Ibis and struggled to use his satnav. It is a bit out of the way and we had to walk some way to find something to eat (take-away) at 10pm on first night. We were put in double room although I had asked for twin beds. Staff immediately changed room to twin bedded without problem. Also, reception staff helpfully checked in our next flight on line. Overall, a good, clean, standard hotel. Pleasant eating by Yarra river in the evening. Enjoyable trip down Great Ocean Rd-beautiful and not at all crowded in Spring although gather it is bumper to bumper in Summer. Watch out for the helicopter rides offered at Port Campbell;an F111 jet shot very close by us-hadn't notified the leisure rides people that they were flying in that area. Unnerving to say the least.
Would just mention that when you book with agents like Asiarooms, they tend to list every attraction in the city as near to your hotel, rather than stating exactly what is near chosen hotel. Hence we had thought we were nearer centre. Not hotel's fault though.
